Title: V-day Is Approaching

Redguard - January 12, 2006 11:39 PM (GMT)
... but it's on a Tuesday.

Kinda sucks in regards for planning something special. Work day... middle of the week...

Let's start brainstorming some ideas.

Honey - January 13, 2006 12:50 AM (GMT)
Everything red...including Altoids. :eyebrows:

LynnMcG - January 13, 2006 01:16 AM (GMT)
My daughter's birthday is February 15 so her birthday party is the following weekend. This is how it's been since she was born! Little booger stealing my V-day. Oh well!

OHHHHH....Valentine's day....

I thought you were talking about something else...

I seem to recall you sillies using the "V" abbreviation differently in another thread.

Either way, still could work for Red as the weekend is approaching and he has a quota to fill....

R U sure HE meant Valentines?

Stringaling - January 13, 2006 12:45 PM (GMT)
I've been married 5 years and we never did anything for each other because we just didn't have any extra money...Well, that is why I thout we never did anything. I just found out lst week that my husband hates Valentine's day. he says that it is only about lust and erotic love. Not the "true love that spoon feeds you when you are old ." He says if they had motion light displays for Valentines day like they do for christmas then it would be a man thrusting his hips. He says Valentine's day is just about lust. "Look at the chocolate lips--those are just soft porn for kids" And the lingerie that comes out--its all about feeding lustful desire."

So, I now know why we don't celebrate Valentine's day in any way. I was a bit shocked nd kind of felt a little hurt...but what do you do? :(

Wo - heavy duty.

I don't have time to think about Valentine's Day.

Feb. 9 is my wife's birthday.
Feb. 12 is my dad's birthday.
Feb. 16 is my daughter's birthday.

Where am I gonna get the time to do something creative for the 14?

Yeah, I did too. I thought that was Red's little code for gettin' some action.

Valentine's Day is just another excuse/reason to have sex again! :eyebrows: We've never done anything "special". Sex is special enough!

LynnMcG - January 13, 2006 02:19 PM (GMT)
String? That stinks. Sorry.

I can see how he would think something like that of people in the "world". But that's not what it should be for your sweetie!

When I was a kid my dad made a really big deal about Valentine's Day. It was great, because we knew it was the only holiday that he actually did all the shopping himself. And somehow it meant more to us. He would give each of the girls a huge box of chocolates and then each of us would get a toy.

I think that's why we celebrate with the kids. I usually make a special dinner and dessert and I give Sean a gift, and Tommy gives Sarah a gift. Of course, my DH can't pass up the opportunity to give me a dirty card either!

That reminds me...

I should speak to Rachel's teacher and get a list of names of her classmates so that Rachel can hand out Valentine's Cards in her class. :bounce:

Our kids get a list like a week before Valentine's Day. That way we're WAY prepared by the 14th!

I almost bought these funky looking red heart shaped earrings the other day. But, it's more important my ears stay attached to my head. :haha:

LynnMcG - January 13, 2006 06:50 PM (GMT)
Oooh, I forgot about Sarah's Valentines. We get a list in September so I already have it. But thanks for reminding me!

Redguard - January 27, 2006 05:12 PM (GMT)
Okay you guys, the dreaded V-Day is fast approaching.

You guys got anything arranged yet?

Mrs. Redguard is addicted to chocolate, so I'm considering this:

http://www.vonhalton.ca/news_events/index_frame.html

Of course, I'll probably need to suppliment it with flowers and naughty undergarments. I'll need to check the closet to find out what her current size is.

andiesmama - January 27, 2006 05:24 PM (GMT)
 That sounds great, Red!

Still not sure what we'll be doing...

Redguard - January 27, 2006 05:26 PM (GMT)
I think I just changed my mind on the chocolate lovers brunch.

I just called them and the rep said that tickets are $65/person. The first ad that I saw said $45, and even that was a stretch for me.

Wow, that is really rough String...

Personally i'm kind of skeptical about this new "Sweetest Day" thing in October? But when making my wife a nice Calendar for Christmas (props to red for the help) I thought about it and I decieded to include it. I figure, what can possibly be wrong with another holiday to celebrate with Heather. Sure it's over commercialized and Secular, but all in all, I get to go home to Heather and we get to do what we want.

As far as Vday being about lust... wow i never saw it like that... I always saw it as lovey dovey "I have a crush on so and so" kinda thing.

That is still upsetting though, becuase there shouldn't be a reason that a man and a wife can't celebrate the lust and desires that they have for each other! ... Sounds like a great holiday to me!!!

We should make a new one and call it "Nookie Day" :bounce:

That's all Valentine's Day is around here. :eyebrows: We're not BIG on celebrating this day. Kids hand out Valentines and they have their little parties at school and wear red, pink and white. Me and the hub get the kids to bed and then WE go to bed and get busy. By morning, it's Feb. 15th.

I don't know what to do with Valentine's Day yet. Inevitably my husband will have to work into the evening. I don't know.... been pondering this myself.... the main trouble for us is money. We've been pretty creative with freebies, but really to do anything special this year we'll need money. We don't have any. So I don't know.

ceres - January 27, 2006 05:47 PM (GMT)
Did I mention I don't know? Yeah I was distracted that last post. My munchkin is circling me.... its just about naptime.... I'm the only person without an avatar... I want one...

Hey String... October 21st (Saturday) is Sweetest day... Talk to him about using that as a day to Celebrate your Nookie... I mean Love...

LynnMcG - January 28, 2006 04:28 PM (GMT)
It's not looking like we'll be able to get out for V-day this year. We have a dinner/movie date tonight so that'll probably be our early Valentine's Day celebration. Plus, I've got my eye on a beautiful little diamond eternity pendant (1/8C, 14K white gold)...available for 5 easy installments of $19.95. :eyebrows:
