I had so many thoughts and ideas of things that I'd do as a parent.
- keep up-to-date albums and journals
- make video recordings of every milestone
- write customized storybooks with her as the main character**
I haven't succeded very well at doing any of the above, and it makes me sad.
However, the third one that I've mentioned (the storybooks) is something that I'm not too late for. When Rachel and I have our art time, she can always recognize when I've drawn a picture of her. Don't get me wrong... I can't draw a picture to save my life, but if they help to get the point across then all is well.
I think that my imagination is colourful enough to write some interesting stories that she'd enjoy. We read almost every night, but I'm worried about her getting bored with the books that she has.
Do any of you have any ideas towards this? Or any personal experience? Ultimately, my dream would be to have a huge list of "Rachel Stories" and then finding a company that can bind the pages (or maybe I'll just go to Kinko's) so that she can have volumes of Rachel's Adventures.
I think that's an awesome idea, Red!
I write a "letter" on Andie's birthday each year..re-capping the previous year, my hopes for the next year, the highlights AND lows...what she's doing, that kind of stuff. I keep a running list in WP so I remember stuff during the year.
Also am going to print out the online journals I've been keeping in CF as well as the one I'm starting here.
I have a keepsake box for each year with her drawings in there, some pictures, newspaper articles, etc.
Oh my gosh. You are both such good parents!
I keep a journal for each of my kids, but I'm a little behind.
Sarah and I make up stories at bedtime, and have been doing this for a few years now, but we never write them down. Maybe it's time we start!
Sorry I have no suggestions Redguard, but thank you for inspiring me.
