Title: What Does It Take?
andiesmama - January 11, 2006 01:09 AM (GMT)
OK....I was soooo biting my tongue tonight! At dinner, Andie wanted to drink water out of a water bottle....a regular bottled-water bottle! She does that, occasionally during the day, but I (as the mom) KNOW she can't handle it at the dinner table....accident waiting to happen.
I'm getting ready to take it away, exchange it for something else...DADDY chimes in..."Oh, she does fine drinking out of the bottle" I gave it one more try, but he was insistent "Oh she's a big girl, she'll be fine!" So I said "FINE!" and went about my merry way...
Not five minutes later, the bottle was dumped onto her plate, her, and the floor. Chaos ensued. She's crying, (her dinner is "YUCK now!" ), DH is annoyed because of the mess.... :box: ...and it's ALL I can do to say "I TOLD you so!!"
Did he THINK I was talking just to hear myself talk?? :nono: I just had to vent....

oooh, been there.
That's when I say, "why do I listen to you?" Then I tell him if he would just listen to me, since I'm ALWAYS right, things would be so much smoother! Ok, maybe I just think that last part.

I have this problem too. He gets mad when I say I told you so, so I wait until he calms down and then I tease him about it (very carefully).
Somehow all the times I've been right still doesn't qualify me as capable enough to schedule my own time...

Ther have been countless times when "I told you so" Is appropriate. I don't say that, I usually say something like"Whose idea was it to do that?" or "I'm not the one who said to do that" "You see, I knew that would happen, and I told you that would happen. You didn't believe me or take me seriously, as usual."
Hmmm sounds like I can be really mean sometimes...But it irritates me when he doesn't think I know what I know. I hate that he seems to treat me like a child someties, like I don't know what is best or how to do things.... Sometimes I just wanna :hammer:

I said something like, "Ok, now THAT is why I said no water bottle!" and stopped there before I said something I would regret.... :box:
