Title: Would You Wanna Wear The Pants In Your Family?

What do you think?

I don't want to boss him around---I just want some sort of say, and the same courtesy and respect that I would give to anyone else (and that he DOES give to everyone else except me).
But "wearing the pants," no. To me this implies that one spouse or the other is not being treated as an equal partner, and I don't see how love can exist when there's a real or imagined power imbalance.
This is just my opinion, of course.

Well said Mandy...where's my rep button?

I agree. Wearing the pants implies one person is in charge and really, I wouldn't want to be! I don't want to turn this into a submission thread, because goodness knows we've all been beat over the head with that issue, but I thnk it is all about respect.

I'm agreeing with you guys...altho there are some occasions that I'm glad I can turn it over to my DH...not just little things like "kill that bug" or "hang that picture"! lol

But bigger ones like deciding on the kind of tv we're going to buy (I know nothing about that stuff)...all the electronic stuff around here....I like being able to give it all over to him...

And on the other hand, there are some things he likes (I'm sure) to hand over to me...like buying gifts, sending out cards, taking care of the bills, making our household phone calls, etc...

It's a give & take...

Altho I hate being bossed around...I could never wear the pants in the family. We try to do things equally. He tracks all the bills/ financial stuff and is very organized about it. Me, I just go into town and swipe the card and it's done. I do the housewife stuff and we both try to keep up with the kids.
