tell me about it....I've got 20 37 cent stamps that will probably go to waste because I'm too lazy to go out to the post office to get the 2 cent stamps to make up the diff....

Just tape 2 penny's to it. :) That's what my grandma does.

I heard this may be happening in 2004. In order to try and stop it, I sent a letter to Texas Senator John Cornyn. he forwarded a letter from the Postal Service that said they were not looking to raise rates at that time. I think the key words were "at that time".

All I really wanted was for the rate increase to hit the people that do the most damage to the Postal Service - junk mailers. They can send a huge catalog for less than a penny, while it costs us $.39 to send a tiny check.

So, when the rates went up, I sent a letter blasting him saying that he wasn't sticking up for his constituents. He didn't tell the Postal Service what I wanted, apparently, all they talked about was first-class rates.

Well, I got a letter from the Postal Service (via Cornyn's office) that said,

The letter goes on to brag that this is the first rate increase since 2004, and is a 5.4% increase on all postage rates and fees. That made it a little easier to swallow. But, I still feel that we should be left alone and just raise the rates on the junk-mailers.

all right folks! geez...the REASON I have to raid her piggy bank is because she's a little theif and steals ALL the change in our house to put in her piggy bank.... :blink:

Our oldest does that. Youngest brings us everything in the house she knows belongs to us - even if it's where it belongs!

Shoes, she knows her shoes belong in her closet, so she assumes everyone elses shoes do too!

It's a shame really, sad even... we cain't all be as rich as you ya know.

I give all my change to my daughter as well, she's probly got more money then I do at any given point hehe

But I used to do that to, years ago when they went from like .23 to .24 cents, I jes stuck pennies in the box wit em. I wish I could say they don't mind, but I know I would if ever pick up had pennis stamped to the front of the thin lol

Y'know, since we do alot of our bill paying online now, we RARELY use stamps anymore. A book of stamps used to last us 1 or 2 months, now they last 6 months to a yr :)

Yeah - same here. WE do most of our bill pay online.

Yeah, and that's why the rate of stamps is going up. Less mail, same amount of expenses = each piece is more expensive to send.

What's scary is having "the cheapest, most reliable mail system in the world." Really?! What are all the other's like?

Mail system isn't that bad in Canada...

The Royal Mail used to be awesome in England. If you sent mail out 1st class by 5pm it was delivered by the next morning post 99.9% of the time. Now it's gotten expensive too - 30p for a stamp! That's just over 50 cents - crazy!
