Bloggers around the world have been talking about the latest Firefox extension, even though it isn't yet available.

AllPeers, a company based in the UK, has developed a peer-to-peer tool for the open source browser, which it claims is "the best thing to happen to Firefox...since Firefox."

"AllPeers is a free extension which combines the strength of Firefox and the efficiency of BitTorrent to transform your favorite browser into a media sharing powerhouse," states the company Web site.

The extension is will be available "soon", according to the company, which has posted screenshots on its Web site showing the tool's interface.

Over the last few days, interest in the extension has been building, with over 50 blog postings talking about the AllPeers extension over the last day, according to blog search engine Technorati.

Ya know something -- I'm not morally opposed to file sharing. Perhaps I should be as some call it stealing. My morally bankrupt court is still out on the subject.

BUT There is no way I would put a file-sharing engine on my computer like Bit Torrent or BearShare or Napster or...

Think of what people could be doing through holes in that software! And you have to open your firewall just to let it run. You may as well leave your front door unlocked, put bright flashing lights around your house with a sign that says, "Hey, Thieves! Easy Access over here!"

I do operate a server which is fairly secure. Heck, even I have trouble getting stuff in and out of it! It's not guarded by my router's firewall (in the DMZ), but has it's own security. Nothing's bullet-proof, but engines like BitTorrent are always pinging out there. Hackers listen for that ping and can get into your system through that open door.

I'm tellin' ya, man - it's bad news!
