Wifey is bombarding me with grapefruit extract and garlic...ok, I'll bite.

I have some serious SINUS pressure and it is causing my ears to plug from the pressure...very annoying...and clues on how to fix this?

Get a nasal syringe. Cajun injector minus the needle worked quite fine for me. Also, have a towel handy. You'll need it!

Then, mix up about a cup of *hot* water (as hot as you can stand it without burning yourself), tablespoon of salt and teaspoon of baking soda. Lena over the sink and shoot the mixture up your nose. It works great. Makes your eyes water. Makes the snot come pouring out like a river! Clears the sinuses!

Do this twice for each nostril twice a day.

Garlic is about the best. And LISTEN and OBEY your wife! Let her take care of you. Otherwise....:lena: If she tells you to go to the doc...GO. No argument, no fighting and no whining. She sounds like a bright lady and knows what she's doing.

Clay...sounds brutal...I may try it though.

I think wifey does this herself once in a while...

Lena, btw, wifey would rather have me die than go to a doctor. She hates practical medicine...and anything practical for that matter. hehe.

Clay, haven't tried your nasal flush yet...but I'm on the verge...if something good doesn't happen in the next 12 hours, I'm going for it...damn the consequences.

I've had this stuffy EAR feeling for 3 days straight....and it's really buggin me.

My nose is fine, that is, no drip, drip or breathing problems...just the pressure in my dang ears...you know, that feeling in your ears when you go up in elevation?

HELP

GutterRat - December 30, 2005 11:58 AM (GMT)
Bro - I am all about the drugs!! I'd be downin' Nightquil before bedtime & dayquil as soon as my eyes opened. :) But...that's me.

squatpuke - December 30, 2005 12:02 PM (GMT)
Yes...Nyquil is my friend.

I usually buy it at Sam's/Costco and get their brand as it's about 60% cheaper.

I don't really have many sickness symptoms...only this dang pressure buildup within my inner ear.

Stringaling - December 30, 2005 12:06 PM (GMT)
Seriously..salt water in the sinuses really clears them and helps to heal faster--My FIL suffers from sinus infections all the time and his doctor quit putting him on antibiotics because they weren't doing any good. Told him to do the saltwater sinus thing..Clears the infection up quickly. The water doesn't have to be hot, warm will suffice, just as long as your salt is dissolved. WARNING__BURNS!1 BURNS!! BURNS!! but after a minute or so you are fine and you can breathe.....are you taking any nasal decongestants?

squatpuke - December 30, 2005 12:11 PM (GMT)
Haven't taken really anything...beyond garlic caps and herbal tea.

Guess I'll be brave and try the nose enema.

(sig worthy)

Stringaling - December 30, 2005 12:31 PM (GMT)
Take some sudafed when you get that cleared out...

Honey - December 30, 2005 12:34 PM (GMT)
I know all about plugged ears. Not much you can do about it til your sinuses clear up.

Saline nose spray works great too. Just spray it up your nose a bunch of times and then blow your nose. It helps clear you out and dry out your sinus passages.

And get yourself some Sudafed. Don't forget your ID though. They wanna make sure you're not bringing it back to your meth lab.

As if you could make Meth with a single package of Sudafed. Stupid...There was a story on this in the paper. They were saying how most of the sufadreine used to make meth comes from Mexico. So why torment the sick people buying medicine at Walmart?!

andiesmama - December 30, 2005 01:39 PM (GMT)
seriously....who wants to drag out your ID & etc while you're feeling crappy? Or worse yet, when you've had to drag a sick kid into Walgreen's and all you want to do is buy the stuff & go back home...

rasplundjr - December 31, 2005 08:14 AM (GMT)
What I do is simple...

Buy a load of day and night Nyquil tipe meds.... valurtite sams whatever...
But a load of nasal decongestant....
Buy load of throat lozenges, or cloarseptic....
Buy a load of Vitamin C

Double the dosage on nyquil type, 4 - 500 MG Vitamin C, 10 200 MG painreliver (preferable one that works on inflamation as well), double the dosage on degongestant, sleep for 12 hours, Double dosage of day version of nyquil type, then regular dosages until bedtime.. rinse lather repeat.... should be all better in 2 days...

Ocassionaly gargle with slatwater and crushed pain reliever to reduce any swelling in throat that may be helping ears to plug becase of restricted drainage...

This is what I do in those circumstances... again colds are usually chased away in like 2 days...

But I'm also twice the size of a normal guy....

Should be sigworthy... or at least ego worthy....
