Title: My Wife's Co-worker
Description: ...asked for her "number"
Redguard - November 29, 2005 05:56 PM (GMT)
Now, a lot of people that my wife works with have her phone number. But this is different.
My wife went to her company Christmas party on Sunday night. It was at a restaurant. After that was over, she came home and asked me if I'd be okay with her going back out with some of them who were planning on going to a small club to continue on with the Christmas party.
Being the kind and generous husband that I am, I said "Sure".
Well... she wasn't out very long. An hour later, she was back home with some "news". While she was out, she experienced her typical and usual "come on" from some old bum trying to get with her. But that's not what weirded her out.
One of her co-workers came up to her and said, "Hey. One of my boys likes you and wants to know he can have your number."
She said, "What? Does your boy realize that I'm MARRIED?"
Then she had one of those flashback moments where everything started to make sense. When she first arrived at the club, she remembered overhearing two of her co-workers nearby talking and one of them saying, "Yo! Forget about it man! She's married! She won't go for that!" and then later, one of the same guys offering to take her coat and hang it up for her (the same guy who sent his friend over to her).
She decided that it was time to leave because she didn't want to have this escalate and create an uncomfortable situation at work.
What do you all think of this? I had the wierdest look on my face when she was telling me this. I wanted to laugh and frown at the same time.

First - I would commend your wife for walking away. I would thank her for having the respect for you and your marriage to get out of that situation.
Other than that - there is part of me that would see it as a compliment. "My wife is hot - and you know it - and you can't touch her!" kinda thing.
And then there is the other part of me that would like to ensure this guy knows to keep his hands off by beating the living crap out of him.... :grump:
:swoosh:

Yeah, I was thinking the same.
My wife was baffled. I guess she would never have assumed that anyone at her workplace would have the hots for her. Especially this particular guy. He's 20 and my wife's 25. She's trying to convince herself that he must've been drunk or something.

I think your wife handled it great....it would make me feel so weird to have that happen!
But is she going to see this guy alot at work, the one who tried to get her number I mean? That would be really weird, seeing him on a regular basis...

Yeah.
Her only advantage is that she works at the Customer Service desk, and this guy works in the car bay installing stereo systems and all that stuff.
I think she's trying to dismiss the whole thing. We were joking around about it last night. But I really felt jealous in a way that I hadn't in a long time.

There's nothing wrong with feeling jealous....pretty natural, I'd say, considering the situation!

Congrats to both of you for the way you handled it. I can't say I wouldn't be in jail for attempted assault (notice I say attempted -- I'd've probably gotten the living *%&( kicked outta me) had the same happened to my wife.

I agree with Clay... Had that Happened to Misty, I'd have marched over there, and attempted to beat the living snot out of the guy... I'm VERY jealous, and that would have disturbed Misty to no end, and I am VERY protective as well... I'd at least got the first shot in being all l337 ninja... :ph43r: :urgh: :ph43r:
Serious Kudos to you and wifey for handling this a lot better than I could.

my wife gets hit on every single day... i can't stand it...
to my knowledge, no one that has know she was married hit on her yet... i mean she looks young, you'd never guess she was married.
try to take it w/ a grain of salt

So when are you gonna share a pic of your wife with us? I may be passing through Maryland one day soon. B)

What helps me is making a joke out of the whole thing. That helps ease the work tension. I've had quite a few different situations. I don't get hit on all the time, but fairly frequently either by strangers, people that see me, or people I know.
