Title: Let your YES be YES and your NO be NO
Honey - February 7, 2009 11:16 PM (GMT)
How many parents actually follow through on this??
If your kid comes up to you and asks you for/to do something and you tell them NO for whatever reason. Then later on you discover that your spouse (knowing what the original answer was to the kid) turns around and lets the kid have/do what it was they wanted even though they BOTH knew the answer had been no. Hey, they made me answer the final answer and that's what it was!
Abe has a nasty habit of doing this. Whenever I give an answer, he turns it into the opposite, which sends mixed messages to the kid and lets him think he can do whatever he wants, even if mom (the bad guy) had said no. He knows dad's gonna say yes eventually and bugs him until he does.
Then he wonders why the kid's so dang confused all the time. I, for one, am SO tired of this. I don't know what to do. I've talked to Abe MANY times about this and it just never gets through.....
Any ideas?? (before I get out the pan...)

I meant have you REALLY tried to talk to Abe about this?
Honey - February 8, 2009 10:35 PM (GMT)
Yes, Squat. Last night I REALLY talked...not yelled, or screamed, or threw a hissy fit...the pan stayed out of it.... and I THINK the message has finally gotten through. I also talked to the kids about how it's wrong of them to bounce from one parent to the next just to get the answer THEY want.

I want to strangle Misty sometimes because she lets the kids do whatever even if WE both agreed on one answer she forgets and lets it go the other way.
one of my HIGHEST Rules is no computer equipment leaves my house without MY authorization, as I'm the one that has to fix it if it breaks.
She consistently lets Z drag it to his friends' houses...
