I do it....my DH has an "allowance" that he has for spending money each week & that's about the extent of his activity with our bank! lol

Seriously, I've asked him if he wanted to take it over, & he said if he actually KNEW how much of our money was going out to pay for cable/computer/electric/etc....we'd be living back in the stone age with no lights, cooking over an open fire, etc....:doh:

My husband takes care of the finances. I handed him the check book because I realized he's the one who usually wants to spend large amounts of money, and since me saying no wouldn't help, I might as well remove myself from the situation.
Unfortunately, with this arrangement, I tend not to be able to spend ANY money, since he behaves as if necessities (like a winter coat, for a random example) are extravagant gifts.
Frustrated much??? Nah!

I do it. When we first got married my hubby did it but when he started driving the truck it became necessary for me to do it and so I've been doing it for 3 years now.

That is very interesting, so you pay the bills while your husband does nothing more then drive his truck around? What work do you do to pay the bills? What of your husband? Do you feed him even if he doesn't do anything to pay the bills? Perhaps I am just confused? I believe if a man won't work niether should he eat. Though that is merely my opinion.

Well he DOES work! Very hard in fact! Try spending 2-3 weeks a month away from your family in order to put food on the table and tell me he isn't working hard. :lena:

Ahh I understand. Perhaps I was merely confused. Though, when you claim to "pay the bills", do you mean to imply that you mind the finances? I mean no disrespect of course, simply attempting to grasp the concept.

Actually, until I started fraternizing with online people, the idea of the wife/woman of the house handling all the bills was a VERY foreign concept to me. I still get shocked whenever I see wives saying that they're the ones who handle the bills.

And that's not meant to sound sexist at all. I apologize if it does. :)

Oh, I understand. You don't mean to imply that you actually 'do' any work though, is that correct? I should reprase that to say, any work outside of the home? Stay at home parents (provided you have any children) work much harder then do those who go out of the home to work. Genreally speaking of course.

I just suck at keeping track of the bills. Plus, I hate doing it. Like I said - if I did it - we would be cold & in the dark!

I am able to tend to these "responsibilities" but I am very unwilling to do it becuase I have a wife that is a very organized person & has no problem writing checks to pay our bills.

I handle all the budgeting in my house. My husband hasn't written a check in years! He is always asking me "how much money do we have?
