Title: Help Sneeking Veggies to Kids

Sarah - May 1, 2008 05:35 PM (GMT)
Liam is pretty much on an all out veggie strike. The only ones he'll eat are corn and potatos. He used to love veggies like sweet potato, green beans, spinach but now won't touch them. I managed to sneek in some pureed sweet potato mixed in with some mac and cheese yesterday but I can't mix in much otherwise he notices the taste difference. Even very small diced vegetables he'll pick out of food.

Anyone have any ideas how I could get more veggies into him?

He's gotten weird about drinks too lately for some reason. He'll drink pretty much anything from my cup but in his cup he's only been wanting water. Maybe I could still get him to try something during dinner.

Vitamins. Liquid absorbs better.

Does corn really have any nutrient value? I recently heard this question asked somewhere else and it got me thinking....

Only for target practice when a two-flusher only gets one....

The liquid vitamins have too strong a taste for him. I do give him a gummi vitamin every day though.

Try that V8 Fusion drink I was telling your husband about. That's about the only way Andie gets any veggies. And if Liam doesn't like his cup, make a big deal about putting some in YOUR cup, see if you can trick--PERSUADE--him to try it that way. Good luck!

:agree:
Our kiddo's went through a similar stage but I required them to have 2 bites. They LOVE veggies now - broccoli and asparagus being two of them :D
I've heard good things about the book.

Liam will try the veggie but then take it out of his mouth so he does give it an honest try (at least for a 19 month old ).

Sometimes I will shred up a zucchini and put it in spaghetti sauce.. Can't taste it or anything!.. Try shredding things like zucs or carrots up in sauces--they blend in well..

I wonder what other sauces I can make that he'll eat. The spaghetti sauce I use now has onions, celery, bell peppers, carrots and zucchini in it and he loves it and doesn't pick at it.
