Title: Printer

I hate printers...especially ink jets...the stinkin' cartridges sometimes cost MORE than the printer...sheesh, might as well get a new printer...

We're finally getting a laser printer today...but the toner cartridge is $130 bucks (for 7000 pages, quite a bit more volume than inkjet's ink cartridges)...

Anyway...I was wondering about how you hippies dealt with the high price of printing at home...

Do you even have a printer? Inkjet or Laser?

Do you use refillable ink or toner? or remanufactured cartridges? Thoughts on that as well?

(I've heard refillable ink is bad, toner not so much)...

Thanks

Cartridge World and Costco :)
Most parents in the school use either. Costco is cheaper but cartridge world gives a discount for PTA members :) Either way, I've heard no complaints of poor quality or bad ink etc.

I have an inkjet. Don't print anything important these days or that often so not worth getting anything better. I usually refill the ink cartridges cos to buy them new is so expensive.

Sorry...We have a LaserJet. I preferred my inkjet but this one was given to us for free so we took it. Oh well.
We rarely print - maybe 2X a week.

We've got a inkjet. Ink goes fast especially when the 5-year-old starts playing with the Digital Arts & Crafts Studio Santa gave her for Christmas!

Inkjet. Tried refilling cartridges one time and it streaked big time. Huge mistake. So we go out and buy the recommended cartridges. Expensive, yes...but worth all the trouble.

Used to have a HP 2200 laserjet got it for free lasted a good several years..... It just was hard to find parts so we bought a cheaper copier scanner printer from wallyworld..... Long as I can keep my son from printing out every damned thing that comes out for any gmaes he plays including graphics and page backgrounds it lasts half way decent;y for about 20 bux for black and 35 for color

Inkjet for now, altho I think it's on its last legs. Thinking to spend some $$$ and replace it with a laserjet. I don't know....

I e-mail stuff to work and print it.

Now that I have a job, it'll be even easier! :rolf:

I refill at cartridge World. Much cheaper and if there is a problem with the cartridge, they just give me another one..:)

With homeschooling, I have found that i use my printer a lot. Some of my curriculum is printable for multiple students, so I just copy and print off their worksheets and stuff.. It has lasted me quite a while, but at this rate, since my oldest got into first grade and is doing much more work, I'm sure my printer's days are numbered..
