andiesmama - March 17, 2008 01:44 PM (GMT)
I need to set up an email account in Outlook. And I can't DO IT!!! :wall: It keeps giving me errors, namely:
| QUOTE |
| "Specified server was found but no response from server. Verify port and SSL information is correct." |
POP3?? SMTP?? HTTP??
Can somebody either get on Yahoo IM or Gmail IM and walk me through it? Or talk me through it on this thread?
Thanks and I'll pay you back somehow......just send me a bill! B)

Specifically what email account are you tryin to set up? One from your new isp? If so, have they given you the server addresses er names? Hadn't got yahoo, an I ain't fooled wit gmail stuff cain't help ya there.

I'm working from home for a guy that Ty used to work with, he's got his own business now & needs admin help.
Anyhow, he set me up with an email to use for the business: Debby@leadingedgesafetysolutions.com
Oh, and it's from here:
https://email.secureserver.net/login.php?logout=1He did send me a screenshot of his settings, so I fixed what I had in the POP and SMTP fields (it's pop.secureserver.net and then smtpout.secureserver.net).
That got rid of the above errors, but now when I test it, the one & only error I get is "unable to send test message. Please verify the Email address field", which the email I have in there is exactly what it should be, I cut/pasted THEN typed it in when it didn't work.
Would that have anything to do with the server port numbers?? :dunno:

try it w/o the stuff after the @ symbol...that is just use debby as the username...
Also,
(it's pop.secureserver.net and then smtpout.secureserver.net).
The first is the incoming server name...where your getting the mail from...and the second is your outgoing...for when you SEND email...they should be placed in different placces in Outlook...
Also, check your windows firewall to make sure it's not blocking the incoming email ports you need...Is he possibly using SSL? (port 993)
Since you can't send, it sounds like its the username thingy...and not the firewall which is incoming data only....
I have a meeting now...but I can help more this afternoon if you don't get it up and running....

Okay.....I messed around with it and right now I can send emails from Outlook but still can't receive them to that address. Squat, I emailed you a copy of the notification I got when the email delivery failed, I dunno if that would have any info in there that you would need.
I tried getting rid of the stuff after the "@", & it put me a few steps back, got more error messages.
It looks like it's working except I can't receive emails!! :wall:
I'm going to check the firewall settings now........ :bike:
