and will God ever let me win? Do you think His hand is in any part of WINNING (or losing) such things? Inquiring minds want to know.

How much of our daily lives isn't born of some sin or another....
Lust Gluttony Greed Pride being the major motivators of mankind?
with Vanity, Wrath and Jealousy rounding out hte dealy 7 if I remmeber correctly being not far behind the first group.....
and sadly they tend to tie into one another and combine adn grow and mutate....

| QUOTE ( 1 Corinthians 6:12-14) |
| "Everything is permissible for me"—but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me"—but I will not be mastered by anything. "Food for the stomach and the stomach for food"—but God will destroy them both. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also. |
These are the words of the Apostle Paul. I leave the rest to you. :hmm:

I think it is like drinking. If you can have a drink without becoming addicted to it, then go ahead.
Literally losing your house in gambing debts is different than laying down $100 on blackjack in Vegas.

Ok...it looks like at least THREE peeps will be getin' a little something after I win the big one tomorrow.

Everyone has different convictions. If you feel ok playing, go for it. IF you feel wrong playing, stop. Simple.
Having said that...I'd rather use my money elsewhere.

Is it gambling if I respond here in the hope of getting in on the money action tomorrow???
Seriously though, I agree in principle with what the others have said here. IMO an important spiritual concern with gambling is "where are you putting your hope and trust" in luck or in God? However, only you can know that as buying a lotto ticket doesn't necessarily mean your hope is set in luck, just as working to earn money doesn't mean you are trusting in work instead of God even though it certainly can do for many. It's a matter of the heart.
Did that make sense?

I donno if I'd call it sin er not... could be, I don't think lotteries are a good idea as it is, it gives people witout false hope of makin it big, an yeah sometimes they do, but it jes pours more money into folks who already have it, makes crime go up etc etc
Poor git poorer, rich git richer.
Havin said that, I wouldn't mind winnin the lottery, we jes don't play it is all. A perfect example is my folks, the money is tight at best an here a few weeks ago, my mom spent like 15 bucks on tickets an you can see em sittin there wit baited breath hopin to win. It's one of those git rich quick thins an I jes don't even know what the odds are at it.
Though it seems I heard sumthin to the effect you had better chances of gittin struck by lightin then winnin the lottery.... now if you wanna spend some money.. I'm all for that, infact, take care of my bills an send me back to school, while I'm in school an then keep the rest how's bout it?

We have a lottery pool at work....I chip in 3 bucks so I won't be the only working here the day after.
BUT...since it's so huge, I dropped another Lincoln this week for a few extra chances bring my odds to something like 1 in 6.34 billion-trillion.
Anyway I was just wondering what you hippies thought.
And yes, I will share...even to kenekekekekeekeeeee......but I get to deliver to her in PERSON
:hmm:

Hubby USED TO chip in with a lottery pool at work. About 2 bucks a week. That is, until we took a course at church about financing. We don't buy lottery tickets because it IS a waste of money. Especially if you don't win. :bored: So screw it...I've got better things to do with my money. B)

Yeah, but do you feel it's God's calling for you to win a bunch of money? Hmmmmmmmmmm??????? Plus, having to spend money in order to "win" it?

Maybe....what if I won (because it was His calling) and decided to BLESS everyone on this board with a new car? Would you change your tune?
