The Land Line magazine we git all the time from our insurance on our truck had an article, I'll see if they've got it online later but this one is jes intelligent.. much like all the stupid crap in there...
A WORTHLESS (in my opinion) dummy, brainless truck driver... one of those guys who must think the truck companies are jes made of money an pocketin it all an runnin round in thier fancy sports cars an million dollar houses... has sued an won a law suit against a truckin company based in CA that has now changed all the truck companies in washington... he sued an won based on the federal standard of over time pay.... NOW any truck driver that works more then 40 hours a week is due OT pay... well... le's figure this shall we?
A truck drivers week is one of two weeks if an OTR driver (over the road) either 60 hours and a 7 day log, er a 70 hour 8 day log. The federal stand is 40 hours in 5 days. Now jes how in the heck are employers sposed to figure this? if the driver works more then 40 hours in 7 er 8 days then they havta git paid OT??
Here's yet another example of shear stupidity, not only do we already ALL not make it, now we're goin to havta pay drivers OT for anythin over 40 hours?? I mean literally, the standard is 1000 miles by 20 hours. So what? Now in a ... federal week? They can only make 2000 miles before they want OT pay?!?! It's insane.
What makes it worse is the OOIDA guys, who are for the lil guy like me, are not supportin, but not unsuppotive of this. They are sayin that the 60/70 hour work weeks are guides that the federal gov't said you cain't exceed, but say also that "companies" are usin it to an extreme forcin drivers to work the 60/70 hours... which is why they should be due OT pay. It's literally crazy!
Comes down to more people wantin more money for less work yet agin... my goodness, git off your lazy butts an git to work! If you jes take it wit the basics for normal drivers, le's say they make .20 a mile, can only do bout 2000 miles in 40 hours, that means for the other 30 hours, they make .30 cents a mile. These are rough figures of course, but that dern near doubles their pay like that. Jes where in the heck is that money goin to come from?? It's a nasty circle that is very slow goin, the drivers now charge the truck company more, thus the truck company must demand more to haul frieght, bla bla bla you pay more for your ice cream... it's jes that they claim you must pay more for it, but we never see it... maybe in ten years er so... it jes goes on an on an on... everbody wants money from a bankrupt bank...
There's another article... it's been comin for a long time, will git into it later... it's more of CA's shear stupidity... an another of NJ's dumbness.... havta wait for another thread....
