I'm gonna be in Dallas on Saturday! We're going to a pre-lenten retreat at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. A very respected monk is visiting from Essex, England and will be speaking on "Living the Orthodox Christian Life in the World Today".

If you happen to be in Dallas join us!! Its $20 at the door, $15 pre-registered ( Linkster ) Lunch is provided. Watch your own kids. :whip: Come and learn a little about the Orthodox spiritual life and our worldview. :)

It does start early, but there will be a Divine Liturgy served before everything else so you can see the Liturgy that we participate in every week (and sometimes during the week), too..

I've never been to Texas, so this is exciting. :bounce:

Have fun in Texas! I've never been to Texas either and from what I've heard (from family) I'm not missing much.

Bad news... :( We're having to cancel. One kid was sick last week and we thought we were in the clear. Now another has gotten sick and is sure to pass through the rest of the household. :( We'll go another time. Bummer that we'll miss hearing Fr. Zacharias speak, though. We'll be able to to order the cd of this retreat in a few weeks from ntom.org webiste... Stupid tummy bugs! :(

does the Fr. stand for "Friar" like in "Friar Tuck"?

Was "Friar Tuck" an orthodox Christian?

That is, did the orthodox church promote his assisting a KNOWN criminal (Robin Hood) with acts of thievery from the local authority.

Shouldn't Friar Tuck simply have "rendered unto Ceaser" like the Bible tells us?

Its Father. He is a monk who is also a priest.

Friar Tuck was a fictional character who taught Robin and his merry men how to make beer. That makes the good brother a very good brother in my book...
