Title: Iraq

I'm gittin rather desperate, so much in fact that I signed up for a program that your sposed to be able to do this er that work from home, yadda yadda yadda, an worried I probly screwed up, but I'm tryin to do anythin an everthin I can to earn a bit of extra money cause ... well.. I need it. That simple. Kid on the way, lil bitty house, no room etc etc etc. Sarah won't let me sale pictures of my bum on some website that I seen on the tv the other night... I donno what's wit er, everthin in relation to that is ALWAYS so form of cheatin to er... N E ways...
My brother got canned the other day an we were talkin bout Iraq, I know Raspy has mentioned it before as well. Well, I'm already gone for much of the year anyways, only I do git to talk an email etc the wife an kids an the like more reguraly, but I'm startin to really wonder bout applyin for jes a net tech, cable runner er mechainc. I've seen they want mechanics an hvac guys, all that stuff I've done, could do. It's difficult gittin an IT job cause I have no references er degrees etc. But even the mechanics had startin pay of like 86k. Well, if I were to make 86k a year witout the huge expenses I have right now, I flat out donno what I would do wit mysef. Right now I make anywhere from 100 to 140k a year an I'm constantly broke. So I'm really thinkin bout takin a job, in either Iraq er one of the other countries we've got our fingers into.
I have no great wish to be blown up er shot, but at the same time, I donno, we are an have been in a pickel, what wit the fuel, the expenses, the mexican trucks, the horrible frieght, an what's more all the recession stuff. Folks can believe er not that the US is in recession I don't care, I see the backside of it an I know that's where we are. It's only goin to git worse before it gits better, an if a democrate gits elected which is a sure bet, they ain't goin to save the country from slippin into a full recession anyways an they'd increase all our taxes agin anyways. So maybe I should park my truck, stick it in mothballs an then go to Iraq. Would any of you consider goin er sendin your spouse? If it were to mean a year long contract, an 12 hour days 7 days a week for that year an the chance you'd be shot er blown up er whatever away from your faimly etc for that kind of money?

Perhaps you could get stationed somewhere non-violent and move the family with you...

Just an FYI on the work-from-home thing..........ChaCha (yes, I'm talking about them again!) has opened up invites. IF you read my journal, you'll know they're doing textChaCha now and we're really getting slammed, especially in the late night/early morning hours (like 11pm-3am). I easily make $25-$30 a day (if I stay up until 1 or 1:30 in the morning).
I'd rather see you doing that than going to Iraq. Plus, you could do it on the road, even, whenever you have internet connection.
Just a thought! :)

Would you possibly be better off selling your truck and driving for someone else? That way you'd just get a paycheck and not have the business overhead.

Well we all know my answer... I'd go in a heartbeat but I don't knwo if I'd be so quick to let Misty go.....
Prolly that silly mannish thing of oh i can walk into danger for my family's sake but I can't let my wife or kids do the same.....
I say do what you need to and what you feel the Lord is calling you to do....
I've got my res in we'll see if they call me....

I wouldn't take my faimly wit me period. Not into a potential dangerous zone, an the key bout the job/money is, if your in danger, you git paid more. That's why I was lookin at Iraq specifically, that's where the money is right now, but then to, that's where everbodies gittin blown up as well.

IF I weren't so deep in debt then yeah, that would be an idea, personaly though, I hate truckin, hate jes bout everthin bout it an certainly wouldn't wanna put up wit a 'boss' per-se, I mean I already feel like a company driver in a lot of ways, but when push comes to shove an I shove back then thins smooth out a bit more. The thin wit this truck is it's offically paid off to the bank now, I do have another note on it but it's wit my FIL an he's not to grouchy when I haven't made the payment etc. THIS is the time to start actually makin money wit the truck, barrin breakdowns of course. An if the fuel would drop er the frieght rate, plus freight would come up then thins wouldn't be so bad. But currently, even if I were to sale this truck an got it to jes cover the debts alone, I'd still be lookin at goin to like Iraq er sumthin for countinuin employment, I cain't make the money I need to make doin a local job.
