Title: Holiday Cleaning

You ladies do any holiday cleaning?

I've got loads to do this week. Curtains are looking drabby and need a good washing. Floors need a good scrubbing. Gotta bake the Christmas stuff...I've got so much to do this week....gifts need wrapping....

I just have to catch up from slacking off last week being sick & all...so yeah, I've got a lotta stuff...floors, bathrooms, vacuum...bleah!

Nope...I have to work. Henry and I resolved a couple years ago we were going to enjoy our holidays and if it meant we had to eliminate some things, disappoint people, so be it.

Our house is cleaned by a housekeeper on a weekly basis, so nothing ever gets too bad. Quarterly we get our house more deep cleaned: blinds, carpet cleaning, baseboards. We just do normal upkeep.

Probably sometime in February, I'll go through the kids' clothing and our clothing to get rid of things. Usually 2-3x a year we go through things to donate or give away things, so we don't become packrats.

The holidays are for enjoying. Other than getting out the Christmas cards this year, we're not going to feel obligated to do all these things. The past 2 yrs were great. If our house is a mess when people come over...oh well. Who cares? If you do, then we sure would be glad if you cleaned up whatever bothers you, otherwise, forget about. That's our motto. Life is just too short and there are so many other more significant things that can be stressful. Why do we need to sweat the small stuff?

I am hosting my family Christmas so in a week I will have about 15 people here. I have been trying to get things done, but since I am married to the grandaddy of all packrats, I am rolling a boulder up a hill.

We are getting overnight guests in five days. I will be lucky to have clean sheets on the bed, with working all week and still having shopping and wrapping to get done.

I definitely need to be cloned!

I was just working on my household schedule earlier tonight. I won't allow myself to be stressed, so I find that if I keep to my usual cleaning schedule and just work my holiday stuff in, inbetween, I'm ok. It just means I won't be able to be here this much this week!
