Title: Big Transition

My almost two-year-old has been climbing the walls of her crib. She hasn't actually crawled out yet, but we don't want her to fall out.

Tonight we are going to take the mattress out of the crib and just lay it on the floor. It will be interesting to see if she will be able to go to sleep outside of the crib.

She may have some trouble at first, but give it some time. She'll get used to it.

When we did that with my oldest, we slept in her room with her for a few nights. Then, my daughters share a room so it was natural for the oldest to sleep in the same room.

Aw, big girl!! :)

I think when Andie turned 2, we transitioned her crib into the toddler bed. She did pretty good. The whole "WOW FREEDOM!!!" thing is what she had to get used to in the beginning. It took alot of taking her by the hand & walking her back to bed ALOT before she got the idea! B)

YS was in a day bed at one year. He's my Bear and he'd climb out and 'thump', he'd fall. We had NO problems with him staying in his bed.
OS moved to a regular twin size bed at 18 months. It took a few days of us quietly walking him back to his room and telling him he needed to go to sleep before he got it. Then at night he walked into our room a few times so back we took him. He got the hang of it quickly.

We just put my 2 year old on the floor with his mattress...we put all three kids in the same room earlier this week. He rolled of, got lost and I had to retrieve him from under the easel a couple of nights ago! :rolf: He's getting used to it and hasn't fallen of or gotten lost again since...

I don't think we had any of our kids still in the crib at age 2! Heck, they were all climbing out of the crib at 10 - 11 months...

They were in the bed well before 2 years.

I've noticed ALOT of parenting changes "out there" for the past 5 or 6 years. Just listen to the girls in the church nursery....babies are babies forever! My opinion, anyways....:P

I had my older two out of the crip earlier, but Isaac....He seriously needed the bars!!! Had to keep him caged (B))for as long as possible, and now that we've moved them all into the same room we had to take the crib down...He's adjusting..

Out of the crip... Is there something you're not telling us about your kids? Need we worry about a little String running around taggin' the walls and hefting a pistol?

:D I just realized I should've added something to my first post....

The REASON we never had a 2 year old in a crib, is because I was out to "here" with another baby! We had to make room so the baby could have the crib. Our youngest might've been a little over 2, since she was our last baby.
