Title: Whta do you do...
Stringaling - September 11, 2007 12:01 PM (GMT)
You know when you have one of those "I-feel-and-look-just-so-frumpy-and-ugly" days (or weeks)...How do you overcome that depressing feelings and thoughts??? How do you get out of the slump?
andiesmama - September 11, 2007 12:16 PM (GMT)
I take a bubble bath, shave my legs, spray on perfume.......do some girlie stuff.
Tell your husband that you are NOT to be disturbed. Period. :whip: and stick to it. Your bathroom door has a lock right? Lock it, take in a CD player if you have to so you can drown out the screams........ B)

I've found earplugs work wonders when you're in the bathroom, showering/bathing, too.
Wear clothing you wouldn't normally wear during the week, but would when you go out. Burn some nice-smelling candles or an air freshener. I bought Febreze Spring & Renewal air freshener the other day and I LOVE that smell! Perks me up every time!
I've been feeling pretty "frumpy" lately, too....time for ME to get all spruced up today! :D
Stringaling - September 11, 2007 01:54 PM (GMT)
I know...I tend to get sick of the clothes I have. I don't have a whole lot and so what I wear during the week tends to be pretty much what I have..so I don't really have special clothes that I "wear out". I think that is a big part of why I get to feeling this way. I get so sick of the clothes I have had for so long and I can't just up and go get new stuff...I get depressed about that and that pushes me even further down in the "frumps"... :(

What do you wear to church?
If I have one of those days I'll watch what I eat and eat as HEALTHY as I can, drink cold water (I prefer room temperature water :dunno: but the cold water refreshes better) and fix myself up. I'll do my hair and will wear a cute outfit usually a skirt w/ a cute shirt vs being in my frumpy clothes.

I was told not to drink refrigerated water...it hardens the arteries...:dunno: I prefer room temperature, too. B)
Hey String...how many bottles of nail polish do you have again? Maybe take some time to do your nails. Colour the base one colour, then use toothpicks and a different colour to make some funky designs...
andiesmama - September 11, 2007 04:47 PM (GMT)
Hardens the arteries??? .........goofball........... :gotcha:

Skirts and the like, which I sometimes wear on regular days anyway--they're not that pretty or special...

I'd love to do that...but my nails are so soft that the polish only last half a day before getting chipped!! :o I can really only paint my toenails because they don't chip like my fingernails...maybe I should do my toenails... :)

String, have you looked on Ebay for some new clothes for yourself? I mean, it might be gently worn or like new, but it would be completely new for you!
I've been feeling frumpy way too much lately. I do feel better when I'm dressed better, but my problem is my weight. I have friends who are heavier than me who dress so much better than I do and seem to have no self-esteem issues like I do these days. So I started buying one or two things on sale every once in a while to spruce up the wardrobe. My SIL reminded me that just because I'm home doesn't mean I have to dress like I am.

I know...That is a good idea, but even that is not in the budget right now. I think after the holiday season we may be able to have more money. In October we'll have an extra $100 but that has to go to buy me a desperately needed metal cabinet for my homeschooling supplies. As it is everything is crammed, stacked, piled on a table and small shelf and it makes the house look crappy and too cluttered. I've been waiting at least 7 months for this cabinet. Nothing's gonna stop me getting it this month.....
(Of course those my be my famous last words....)
I have always been leary of shopping for clothes online. Sometimes something looks good, but when I try it on, it just doesn't it right or is cut for another body shape. Online you don't have the luxury of trying it on first or trying it in different sizes...Have you had good luck with the online shopping?

I bought all my maternity clothes from my last pregnancy on Ebay. I did VERY well. Recenly, I bought a formal blouse for my neice's wedding. I did well because it didn't fit and the woman exchanged it for me in time for the wedding, which was awesome. I'm going to be listing kids' clothes and some semi-formal dresses on Ebay this weekend. Hopefully I'll sell everything!

It can be. You just need to be organized. I order envelopes, boxes, tape, and labels from USPS.org for free so I always have them. I take pictures of everything, write out a brief description and weigh everything. Then I use Ebay's Turbo Lister program to set up my listings. Once you have the legwork done it goes pretty quick. Then sit back and wait.
Kids' clothes ALWAYS sell. Especially if you have brands like Gap, Gymboree, and The Children's Place. Women's clothes don't necessarily move as well. Although I did well selling my maternity clothes after I was done with them.

You should see my living room right now. *shudder*
I take baby steps forward. Then GIANT steps back practically every day.

Yep, writing out the descriptions and taking the pics is what takes me the longest.
Lynn -- how do you batch the kids clothes you sell? By size? By "time of year" (summer, winter, etc)? By type (pjs, dresses, pants, outfits)?

Debby,
I kind of bunch them a couple of ways.
First, always by size. Then sometimes by type. This weekend I have two brand new pair of The Children's place 6 slim jeans (worn once) then another pair of Walmart jeans. So I'll price them as if I'm selling just the two pair. It's almost like throwing in the Walmart jeans for free just to get rid of them. But then I have a Gap fur coat which was $50 originally. So I'll sell that by itself with maybe a "buy it now" price of $20.

That's what I normally do.
