Title: I am officially ready to be a Teacher
Honey - August 15, 2007 07:18 PM (GMT)
Our homeschooling books just came in the mail today!!! :bounce:  :D
As you can see, I'm excited and really nervous all in one. I only have like, 10 teacher's guides books to read! These books are not little, either! :faint: The books came in 2 big boxes so I've gotta sort through all of those and get the first books out and ready. Then I'm reading about all the supplies I'm gonna need which I hadn't thought of before....
The kids? They're excited! This week they've started up with "I'm boooored." They'd been fine all summer until now. So now I've shown them their books and all of a sudden they're not so bored! I shoo them out the door and tell them to really enjoy their outdoor time now, while they still can. 'Cos this mama is gonna wanna get started with school soon! After I do my teacher shopping, of course. I've still gotta figure out where to put Isaiah at. How to organize the books and WHERE to put them all!! I need another filing cabinet...maybe 2....
Oh well...it'll all come together eventually! For now, I'm just thrilled that the books came in! :thanks:

10 teacher guides?!?!?!?! What curriculum are you using?? I have like maybe 3 guides and one of them I really don't need.. I remember you posted that the kids had 40 a 60 books and I about fainted. Good Lord woman?!?! Really, though, what curriculum are you using?

Christian Light Education.
I probably won't really "need" all of the teacher's guides, either. But I do like to be prepared, just in case. And yes, the kids get that many books. No chance of them getting bored now! :D

We started school Monday, and things are going pretty well...still trying to get into the swing of things..With Isaac things are kinda tough--Little bugger is a major nuisance at school time..
Join a homeschool group if you can. I went to the first meeting of the year for the one I joined and there are sooooo many cool and fun things planned. Much more action that the public school kids will ever see!

Thanks, String. A friend of mine has been trying to find one in our local town here and we haven't had much luck finding one. Hmm...
Oh, and all those teacher guides? They have answer keys in them, too! Grade 4 has individual answer keys, but grade 2s is in the guidebooks. Kinda makes it easier to keep it in one book. :)

I love the curriculum where it has everything laid out for you..makes teaching a whole lot easier.. some of mine are even scripted!

What type of trips?
Honey - August 16, 2007 04:26 PM (GMT)
Trips.....hmm....really gonna have to get an idea about all that....plus I get to nag the hub about the CAR I'll be needing....

We kinda do year round school. I think that works better with our lifestyle because when Louis gets home I don't worry about Kat "missing" school and we just take days off from school when we feel we need it. I think it would be hard trying to get Kat back into a school routine as well if we took a bunch of time off all at once like during the summer.
Have fun!

I can't remember all the ones they have planned for this year but they inlcude fire station, police department, museums, zoo, nature center, ice cream plant (OH YEAH!!) and there were several others. this does not include the group camping trip or Thanksgiving feast, or parent get togethers. And every year they work the whole year on a big dramatic production. This year they are gonna do a version of The Lord of the Rings!! Of course the little ones will have to be hobbits and the major parts for the teens...OH yeah, and in Oct one group (who does the Konos curriculum-they have their own seperate co-op within the group) has invited everyone to their Egyptian Party--They are studying ancient history this year and are gonna have an Egyptian party! Which is really cool because I have decide to use The Story of The World curriculum with my daughter and she's gonna be doing ancient Egypt next week!! She's gonna make a model of the nile river in a foil pan and go on an archaeological dig in grandma's sandbox!!
YEah, Lena--Find a good group!! I searched and found this one online a few months back..
