Yes there r snakes, were I live it is all farming, sheep, cattle, emus, deer, goats, pigs etc plus canola, wheat, hay etc, they r all venomous we have:
the tiger snake DO NOT TOUCH :naughty:
the king brown DO NOT TOUCH :naughty:
They r the two main ones that kill animals and will chase ppl down.
No I have never been bitten yet and I would call it a healthy fear of them.
The kids r not allowed outside in summer without the yard being checked first and them being watched.
But it is heplful that I have a foxy x jack russell, I got him at 6mths old from a farm, he barks at them too scare them and let us know that there is one outside and the cats as they tend to keep them away. Snakes like milk, so we found out, so we do not have milk in bowls outside any more.
Hope that answered ur questions and more ..... :rolf:

Yes, we're an interesting bunnch of people  This is not your average Christian message board

OMGosh...I can't imagine that...that would be my worst nightmare. I thought the ONLY snake to chase people was the "taipan" (which might be one those two species).
Weird that they would chase people...I would think they would be skeered of most peeps like the average snake.
How far are you from the hospital? What IF someone got bit? Do you keep anti-venom in the fridge?
As far as the "butt contest"...AND in my defense...I knew Louise has a fragile ego and I didn't want to let the good bro down. PLUS, they didn't give me enough time to find the proper undies, post, and develope....it was like...LET'S have a contest...a few days (like 2) absence and the next thing I know..."super chicken". IOW, it was rigged. But it's all good...Louise (falsely) thinks he has the best butt; I can live with that as I know the REAL TRUTH. Now you do too. hehe.
So you have a hubby and SIX (that's cool) kids....may I please have the first names, gender and ages of the "hawk" nest? How long have you been married? How much can hubby bench press? Is he a good bro? (that is, does he hog the remote, demand good meals, pee in the shower and have smelly feet like the rest of us?)
How big is your flat? (house for you westerners) Any pets beyond the Jack...what is his name? and let's see....oh yeah, what do you like on your pizza? (do you know what pizza is?) Have you ever eaten wallabee, kangaroo or dingo?

The nice thing about living here in the outback is we have kangaroos, wallabys and koalas around us and the smell of the gum trees is lovely on a hot day.
The sound of magpies warbling is just a great noise and reminds me of my youth.
I love it here and don't really want to live in the city again.
