Honey - August 7, 2007 08:52 PM (GMT)
So..........how many bottles of nail polish do you ladies have?

Not answering this one til someone else does. :gotcha:

Keneke - August 7, 2007 08:57 PM (GMT)
I have roughly 10

Sarah - August 7, 2007 09:00 PM (GMT)
I have NONE! I think I have only worn nail polish twice in my whole life - once when I was 8 and once when I was about 14/15.

Honey - August 7, 2007 09:03 PM (GMT)
Where's Lynn, anyway? I'm sure SHE won't make me feel so bad!

And Sarah......are you kidding me?! You must a "Plain Jane" type-a gal.

My toes right now are aquamarine colour...:nails:

andiesmama - August 7, 2007 09:35 PM (GMT)
Two........mainly for Andrea, tho.

I paint my toes sometimes, but when I want my nails done I get the fakey-fakeys.... :nails:

Honey - August 7, 2007 11:11 PM (GMT)
Don't the "fakey fakeys" actually ruin your nail? :dunno:

I looked at some the other day. Sure they look nice, but can I be bothered if it ruins my nails?

Stringaling - August 8, 2007 05:26 PM (GMT)
Okay...I haven't bought polish in a long time, because...well...I have a ton!! I haven't thrown any out in ages either because they are still good, you know, not clumpy or thick. I don't paint my nails very often anymore because I am mom/housewife kind of busy..My grand total, including a few top coats and strengtheners is....

45!!!! :thanks:

Honey - August 8, 2007 05:31 PM (GMT)

Yeah Lena, they are not good for your own nails. When you get the fake ones off, the natural nail tends to be weak and brittle underneath until they manage to grow all the way out again.
There is some stuff called Solar Oil that you can rub into them which is meant to strengthen the nail underneath. I used it a while ago and it seemed to work but I'm not convinced.

I had acrylics, took them off last month and I'm still trying to grow the damaged nail out. I am trying to resist the urge to go back and get them redone. I have been an habitual nail biter all my life so they just don't look good anyway even when I do grow my own 'cos the shape is all stuffed.

andiesmama - August 9, 2007 11:03 AM (GMT)
Hope, we truly ARE soul-sisters.........I'm a habitual nail-biter as well!! :thanks:

That's why I get the acrylics, I have them taken off every so often for 6 mo to a year so I can let the natural nails "breathe" or "recover"....whatever word you want to use!!

It DOES take awhile for them to grow out. One thing that helps when I do mine is Vitamin E.....the little capsules, puncture one & rub the oil right into the nail.

I just like the way they look........maybe now that Andie's in school, I'll have time to go & get mine done!!

Honey - August 9, 2007 03:55 PM (GMT)
Isaiah's a nasty nail biter, too.........drives me absolutely BONKERS!! :wall:

Use a nail file, ladies! :nails: I'm thinking I should rub vitamin E or cuticle oil into his fingers at night....

I never paint my nails. But, I always paint my toenails (or have them painted). I have about 25 different colors. :D

Why your toes and not your fingernails?? Just curious.....or nosey, whatever......... B)

Honey - August 19, 2007 06:37 PM (GMT)
I rarely colour paint my finger nails. Only for holidays or if I'm really bored. They just chip off after a few days anyway.

My toenails get more attention colourwise.

Jesslovespugsy - August 19, 2007 09:18 PM (GMT)
I dont think i have any bottles around here if i did they're no good lol but when I did i'd only paint my toe nails too ,i cant stand to have any polish on my finger nails. call me crazy i dont care lol i am just afraid the paint will chip off into my food or what not.

My mum is a nail technician and she gave me a whole heap of polishes when her customors tastes in colours changed.
I mixed a whole heap of then and came up with some really nice colours that I still have today ...... that has been awhile ..... it was good when I was painting mine so often when I was younger .... again that was a long time ago ....
Now I rarely wear it as it ends up peeling off after a few days ....

I now have about 30 bottles left - including base coat and top coat.

I'll do my nails when I have time. I usually always have my toenails done BUT they have becomed stained from all the nailpolish so I'm giving my toenails a break for a bit. I hate them 'naked' :D

Stringaling - August 21, 2007 04:16 PM (GMT)
I read somewhere that vinegar will help with the staining...

Does anyone know what the difference is (other than time) between fast dry and sit-there-for-a-couple-of-years-waiting-for-the-polish-to-dry kind? I mean I just don't have time to wait on the slow druy stuf. THere is always something or someone that needs me and I have to goet up and go and mess up the wet polish. I love my spees dry polish, I just don't have very many of them.

Honey - August 21, 2007 04:31 PM (GMT)
Use a lemon on your toenails! That worked for me. And I have nail whitener stuff from Yves Rocher.

Keneke - August 21, 2007 04:33 PM (GMT)
THANKS...

Honey - August 21, 2007 07:55 PM (GMT)
Oh...and ALWAYS use a basecoat if you're applying red-toned colours! The basecoat will keep the colour from seeping into your nails.

Now you may thank me. B)
