Do y'all make lists? How about using coupons?

Have you heard of this: The Coupon Mom? It's free, and I've been working with it for the past couple weeks....kinda hard because I don't get the paper on Sundays, but I think I'm going to start. It matches the coupons in the paper to the specials at your local grocery store....plus gives you links so you can print out free grocery coupons. Last week I saved $30 in coupons at the store!! :booyah:

I make lists, and then lose them :) Same thing with coupons.

I'm a coupon shopper. I have to be for budgetary reasons. It's my contribution in financial stewartship. I usually save about 35% on my groceries every week.

It's not hard to do, you just have to get into the habit. First, you need at least one Sunday paper. It's football season, so my DH usually has two each Sunday. First, I make up a menu for the coming week based on what's on hand. Then I figure out what's on sale, and match coupons to sales. I'm pretty loyal to certain brands, so if I don't use it I'm not buying it, no matter how good a deal it is.

I always make lists. No way I can count my memory anymore! I use coupons when I find them.

Lynn....do you shop at different stores? Or maybe there's only one in your area, I know you live in a small town! :)

I'm just wondering if it's worthwhile to spread it out....shop at different stores that have the specials to match your coupons.

I shop at a butcher every two weeks and then the grocery store and farmer's market every week. We have a bunch of grocery stores, but the store I choose to do my shopping in had the best prices and their sale flyer always matches the coupons in that Sunday's paper. For me, the butcher and the farmer's market are a better value for quality and price. So even though I have to drive a little, it's worth it to me.

We have one place to get groceries on post (the commissary). Sometimes I shop off post, but there are only little shops within walking distance of my apartment. In little shops, the prices are not fixed and tend to go sky-high when a foreigner walks by....
