Title: Workout Anyone?
Honey - December 13, 2005 07:19 PM (GMT)
Anybody have a workout routine?
I know Doris does! :hehe:

Yes, but the past year I've been really bad about it (long story). Mainly it's pilates, pushups, and a lot of walking. At least I've kept up with the walking; there are advantages to not having a car :)

I was good for awhile...up until I got this bug or whatever I've had for the last couple days, & I don't feel like doing ANYthing...
But I've got the Walk Away the Pounds series, I'm up to the 3 mile walk...hopefully tomorrow I can get back on track with it.
Especially this time of year, I do alot of extra eating stuff I don't normally eat, so with the exercise at LEAST maybe I'll be able to maintain and not gain during the holidays!!

Well, when the weather was better I was walking 2 miles a day. It's too cold for me to drag Bubba on my walks in the morning. AND, I've been too lazy to do my Walk Away the Pounds DVD. I seriously MUST get back into a routine.

When we lived in town during our first year of marriage, I walked to all my doctor's appointments. I kinda miss town...I did alot of walking. Plus our appartment had no elevator and we lived on 3rd floor.
I have an elliptical trainer now. Hubby says the gym is too expensive and he expects me to workout at home...hmmm

Even though your little bouncy guy made me laugh...I'm still not feeling motivated enough to walk Deb.
OK, I need to do it and I know it. SO...give me a couple of days and I'll let you know. Because at this point I need someone to force me into exercise clothes, turn on the DVD player, and make my legs move.

Too bad we don't have a room big enough for our big trampoline! :bounce: I'd be on it all the time.

I do water aerobics 3 times a week. I have RA and it's the only workout that I can consistently do that doesn't affect my joints. On "good" days in between, I walk 30 mins or so on the treadmill.

Sounds like a nice workout! Seems like I always crave a nice swim in the middle of winter, when I can't get one.
My sister has had RA since for almost 30 years. I would love for her to do some water aerobics, but she won't. :(

Not unless you count going back and forth to the fridge a workout routine. :shakeit:
I used to work out every day and loved it but now it seems my stepper is just a fancy workout clothes hanger...I really should get back into it (famous last words.)

I would love to do some kind of workout, but the three kids make it almost impossible. The last time I tried my pilates DVD I had to stop three time sto find out who was crying, fix a boo boo and stop fight. It never fails tht every time I try the kids make sure to act up amd ensure that i canno have any time to myself.. Hopefull when they are older I will be able to do somehting more.. I hve lost weight though. I only have 8 pounds to get back to my pre-first-pregnancy weight! Thank you slim fast(with soy milk) and vegetarian fasting!

My thing is, you always do what you really want to do. For the things you don't really want to do, you'll always find excuses.
I'm going to shoot down most excuses. I may not be the busiest person, but I would surmise it's up there. So, I'm not going to write this as a thing of boasting, but to show that no matter where you are in life, if you have the desire and willing to take action, you can integrate working out as a daily part of your life, or at least a few times a week and you can really do whatever it is you want.
1. Married (tries to go out on dates on a regular basis, spend time daily with hubby)
2. 2 young children (1 sick right now)
3. Full Time Senior Level Engineering job
4. Own & Operate a Video Production Business w/Hubby
5. Part-time Stock Trading & Coaching
6. Active in my church - teaching children; mercy ministries; online women's forum
7. Learning/reading on God/health/fitness/relationship/inspirational/medical/ mental stuff
I find time to eat healthy daily and employ some type of physical activities for at least 30 minutes a day.
Leverage my resources so that I can do 1-7.
Now I'm integrating at least 6 hrs of sleep every night.
Here are some things I do not or rarely do:
1. Things that do not help me in #1-7
2. Waste energies thinking or moping about what I cannot accomplish, or that things are too difficult
3. Watch TV (I may watch 30 min. a week on average...some weeks zilch)
4. Don't read the paper, listen/watch to the news....these tend to be huge downers and drain my energy
5. Spend time gossiping
6. Waste time
7. Pay people to do some of the tasks I do not have time to do or do not like doing (working on getting the money to have others do the other things I do not like)
8. Unnecessarily go shopping or window shopping
9. Rarely watch movies
10. Read things that do not enhance my knowledge in accomplishing my goals
I do have down time, play with the kids, sit and talk with Henry (husband), dance, have fun.
Some things I DO:
1. Pray, seek God, daily devotionals
2. Prioritize
3. Set boundaries
4. Schedule-oriented
5. Leverage resources (for us, it's living in a very small house, but this enables us to have someone clean our home on a weekly basis, someone to do the yardwork, etc....)
6. Read inspiration/motivational things
7. Working on surrounding myself with empowering, motivated, inspirational people who DO
8. Eat healthy for my body
9. Getting enough sleep (now)
10. Exercise
11. Manage my thought life -- get rid of thoughts that do not serve a useful purpose
12. Get rid of friendships or relationships who do not add to my life (if this is family -- you need to set strict boundaries....don't say you can't, because you can)
13. Set realistic expections
14. Stop with the perfectionistic standards
15. Quiet time daily to get centered
16. Realize not everything is important
17. Stop being a people pleaser; really, all you need to please is God
18. Servant attitude; humble
19. Learn from every situation
20. Be thankful in everything; heart of gratitude
21. Listen to, see positive affirmations
22. Get help to destroy Satan's lies (this could be therapy, songs you listen to, Bible, a whole host of things)
23. Deep breathing
24. Know that I am so very loved beyond measure
25. Smile, laugh
There's probably more, but I want to spend a little time reading to my little girl.
Ya'll have a great evening,
Doris
