Title: Snoring
Redguard - July 9, 2007 03:53 PM (GMT)
All of a sudden, I've developed a habit of snoring. This bothers me greatly.
I don't know what's causing it to happen all of a sudden, but it's becoming a bit of a problem. And apparently, it's not a mild snore either... my sister is saying that she can even hear me in the room next door. And on occassion, Mrs. Redguard will step out and sleep in Rachel's room with her. :(
It seems to have started ever since we moved into my parent's house, In fact, I think I can identify a lot of personal problems that have started since I've moved in there.
- Snoring
- Gaining Weight
- Losing Sleep
- Fatigue
- General frustrations
I know there isn't a real "cure" for snoring or anything. I feel like I'm just really sensitive about it because my mom snores and it's just one of the most awful sounding things in the world. I literally want to go into her room and through a microwave at her. And now, to think that I've become that person... it really upsets me.
During Mrs. Redguard's 1st pregnancy, she snored quite a bit and I'd go out and sleep on the couch from time to time. This made her sad, but I didn't see any reason for her to be overly bothered by it. Now that the tables are turned, it does hurt. Although I LOVE sleeping by myself, I'd rather do it when the choice is up to me.
I'm trying to make sure that I stay on my side while I'm sleeping, because I think my snoring is worse when I'm on my back. But all of the concentration that it requires for me to "think about" staying on my side causes me to stay awake all night and then I lose sleep and end up being unproductive throughout the day.
This is awful man!

Wow, you guys are gentle with just getting up to leave the room. If hubby or if I'm snoring, we smack each other out of it....literally. :slap:

Get tested for sleep apnea.
Those are all signs. Increadsed stress could have lead to poor sleep which can lead to the fatigue and weight gain, which can lead to snoring.
CPAP machines help out a ton (or do you guys spell it tonne) with sleep apnea....
I actually lost a couple pounds after I got my CPAP because my body wasn't as tired all the time, and I had more energy to do stuff and I could actually process things correctly, it wasn't a huge loss but it helped.

Yeppers, we do what Honey does..... :smack: each other.
I also use ear plugs, because my DH tends to snore as well.
As for the not-sleeping-on-your-back part, I've honestly heard of people sewing a tennis ball into the back of their pj's, makes it uncomfortable to sleep on their back......
......of course, if you don't sleep in pj's, then I guess that's not an option...... B)

I have a body pillow that I 'lean' on b/c of my bad back...It doesn't allow me to sleep on my back...maybe try something like that?

Red - all those symptoms are related. Stress can induce fatigue and weight gain. Weight gain causes snoring. Snoring causes sleep loss. I should know. I'm there!
