My mother suggested the other day that perhaps my oldest boy might have ADHD because of the etreme wiggliness, distraction, etc... he exhibits...Do any of you have any experience with this or know anythign about it?
I'll be back later..gotta go outside to burn off kid energy... :)

I PERSONNALLY believe that ADHD is probly the single most over diagnoised thin out there for kids... everbodies got it if you listen to some folks. I've heard it over an over agin, an while I'd not presume to tell someone that does actually have it that they don't, I alos believe a swift kick in the butt stops alot of that stuff wit a bunch of the over diagnoised ones.
My ex-mil an that faimly were always sayin my ex-wife had ADHD.... I didn't believe it at the time, an I still don't, I was married to er an she was a complete scatter brain but I would never have said it was BECAUSE of adhd.
I think your in a tough spot really, if you took em to a doc they'd probly say straight away he's got it. I think I'd jes watch for a good while before stickin a bunch of drugs in em er any of that other stuff doc's love to hand out like it's candy. How old is he? How longs he been wigglin round? When I was a kid I wiggled all over the derned place, I hadn't got no danged adhd stuff.

He's 4---5 in august...I had never really considered it before. I thought that it might just be normal boy behavior. My mom works in a kindergarten/preschool place and she sees kids all the time and knows their different behavior, so that is why I'm wondering. If it turns out that he does indeed have any form of ADD or ADHD I will NOT medicate..at all..
I actually wonder if he does have it because he is sooooo distracted..I give hi a pair of socks and half the time he loses them within minutes of getting them because he throws them in the air. every piece of clothing he wears is thrown in the air a few times before he even gets dressed. He forgets that I gave him clothes to put on. He loses them, He forgets that they are on his bed, where I sat them right next to him while he sat on his bed..He twists and wiggles and runs around all the time. I often ask him if he has to pee because it looks like he is doing a pee pee dance..When I tell him to throw somehtingaway or do something I often have to tell him many times because he gets distracted and forgets to do it.
It may be normal boy behavior and I am just not accustomed to it..
I do agree with you that this is WAY over diagnosed...People are just too lazy to step up and discipline their children and drugging them is easier..

ADHD is quite real... truthfully a good ass whooping cured mine and my sisters' cases....
Some are a little more severe.... Time with the kid is always better then medication but sometimes it's not enough nad medication is needed.... make sure it's an issue before seeking a doctor's consel on it, becuase most docs nowasays will just write a scrip for it without even looking closely at the child.

I'd be very careful about diagnosing anything this young in age. He sounds like a pretty normal boy from what you've posted. Some kids just need more guidance than others.
