Title: Line or Machine

Honey - June 21, 2007 07:09 PM (GMT)
How do you dry your clothes?

Spring/summer - I use the clothesline, weather permitting.
Which reminds me, I gotta hang up some more....

Winter - dryer.

I know Hope could use her clothesline year-round....I envy her. :bored: :P

andiesmama - June 21, 2007 09:28 PM (GMT)
Dryer......they don't get as soft when I hang them outside, yannow?

Guess I could hang them outside and then tumble them in the dryer to soften them up, but that might defeat the purpose, eh? :P

Honey - June 21, 2007 10:21 PM (GMT)
Wasting precious energy....line, girl line! :P

We have a windy day yet, too...that really speeds up the drying process.

Now now no sulking Lena :cheeky:

Yep I use my line all year round 'cos it is under cover on the back patio. Get's lots of wind too. :D

Sometimes I put my towels in the dryer for 5 mins or so at the end to soften them. That's a huge difference from putting them in the dryer wet. I use softener in the wash, so their usually ok anyway.

I usually only use my dryer for emergencies and to finish off occassionally.

Sarah - June 22, 2007 02:33 AM (GMT)
I'd like to use the line and have done in the past but the wind kicks up so much dirt here that it just makes the clothes dirty again so I use the dryer.

Stringaling - June 22, 2007 11:16 AM (GMT)
When I was a kid my mom would dry our clothes on the line, but I think ouir water was so hard that the clothes would be literally stiff when they dried and smelled horrible! She tried fabric softeners and different detergents, but nothing worked..Smelly, scratchy clotes just from drying outside...

Husband wants to do it, but I have enough housework to keep myself busy without having to lug clothes outside and go through all that...

I barely get that done without the added work and time of line drying. At this point in time I use the dryer. My kids are leraning how to use the dryer. When they are tall enough maybe I'll set them to work hanging the clothes out to dry, but my personal experience with line drying makes me really not want to do that...

Golfingmom - June 22, 2007 08:15 PM (GMT)
WE have hard water. Line drying causes the clothes to get super 'crunchy' and I don't like the smell of line dried clothing. I use the dryer :)

The only things I don't hang on the line are jeans and towels. Those do get a little stiff.

Stop it, Deb. :P

Her NEW posts should come up as Keneke....that's what happens when you change your name! She'll still have some as "Golfingmom" from before the change.
