Title: This Boy is Going to be the Death of Me!
Sarah - June 8, 2007 05:09 PM (GMT)
We have an outlet right next to the living room/kitchen door way. I put a rubber maid box infront of it the other day to try and block Liam from going near the outlet. The box was full of Kat's books so it's not light. I went outside earlier to put diapers in the wash leaving Liam gated in the living room. When I walked back into the house through the kitchen I found the boy ON TOP OF THE BOX and trying to climb over the gate! He had used the gate to get on the box and was using the box to try to get over the gate. He's gonna be the death of me!

Well the good news is the boy has great analytical skills, and isnt' afraid to use them.

Yep, they're super easy to use and look and smell better than diaposable. Plus since we don't have trash pick up at our house it's nice not to have disposables stink up the house. These are the cloth diapers we're currently using:

They are adjustable from newborn to toddler. Cloth diapering is not the hassle it used to be.

What do you mean He'll be the death of you? I just can't believe that any baby who looks that cute and angelic could cause you any trouble at all. :dunno:

He's gonna give me a heart attack by breaking his head on the floor or something!

Nah, kids like that just bounce back! :P Isaiah did similar things....er, still does!! If they do get hurt, it's only maybe a minute then they're back at it again. B)

Cloth is the way to go...
Wished I'd done that 7 years ago...
Can't imagine how many Benjamins' I've laid down on disposable diapers.

I have literally been changing diapers every day for the last six years, three months. I couldn't handle having to wash them too. I've enough stress and responsibility on my shoulders without adding fecal clothes to the list...Glad I dispose!!

Because the child is 1/2 A2J....... Nuff Said....

Liam landed on his head last night on the kitchen floor. He decided that using the box for help over the gate was too easy and instead just scaled the gate himself. Of course once he got to the top he had nowhere to go but down! Anyone got any ideas to block doorways other than baby gates (which apparently don't work!)?

Duct tape.... worked on me.... of course the tape was on me and not onthe door way.... then you have to turn the stereo up until the child cries himself to sleep.....

Sorry I'm laughing. Sounds like my little one. No, I never had a way to stop it. Just Big Daddy and Big Sister keeping watch...
BUT it reminds me of something.
When I lived in your neck of the woods - in McAllen - I had a little dog named Lady. I wanted to restrict her to the hallway 'cuz she liked to rip everything up. I bought a baby gate and closed the open end of the hall. I came home from work, and she was eating one of my LPs (which is a capital crime in my book)! So, I bought another baby gate and put it on top of the other, thinking she was jumping it. Came home, she was eating something else. OK - what do I do now? She's obviously climbing these gates.
Brainstorm! Lay the top one at an angle into the hallway so it looks like this:
It worked! Maybe you could do the same for Liam - but I'd hate to see the little tyke drop from that height...

Clim'ing the gate?? My kids never did that. :yikes:

Am I the only one who never had gates?

I never did, either.......then again, we never had stairs BUT I never used gates to block any rooms or anything...... :dunno: B)

We had to have gates. Either that, or watch/listen to them take a huge tum*le everyday...we had steps in pretty much every house/apartment we lived in. I am so glad we're done with them.
