Title: I been meanin to touch on this one for months

Addicted2~Jesus - June 6, 2007 02:13 PM (GMT)
A over yonder thread in the mens ministry here months back really had me floored bout some "men" there. This might be better off in the mens area but I'd like everone to be able to talk bout it.

They was talkin bout 'boyfriend Jesus songs' That may not be exactly the way it was put, I have slow service so cain't go searchin for it.

A feller there coined the term 'gay for Jesus' I actually found that a bit offensive actually.

They was talkin bout songs in the Christian music area that were girly er to lovey dovey etc. This is a concept I cain't fathom. I'm a man, I'd venture to guess I'm a "manly man" an all that crap as well, but these folks was actin like you had to be a fairy er sumthin to like, sing er apperciate etc any of these songs that sing to the love of God.

Here's a song that they claimed was a girly thin an I downloaded it jes to see what it was sayin, cause I was sure I'd heard it a bunch an couldn't for the life figure out how it could be a gay song for Jesus.

Toby Mac - Made to Love you

the start of the song isn't all that important but the course says:

"When did I furgit, I was made to love you, I was made to find you, I was made jes for you, made to adore you, I was made to love... an be loved by you."

"You were here before me, you were waitin on me and you said you'd keep me, never would you leave me, I was made to love an be loved by you."

Now I cain't see a thin in the world wrong wit this song er it's words, I dare any "man" to come up an tell me how it's wrong, how it's gay er anythin else. Because I am a child of God, I was created, born into this world for one purpose only, I was made to Love God, to adore Him, to worship Him, because He an He alone is worthy of worship. Somewhere along the lines folks have gotten thins so frickin fowled up. This is our purpose, we were made to love God, made to serve Him, made to worship our livin God.

I hadn't heard a song in my life that was a praise song to the Lord that I could ever say came close to bein gay for Jesus.

Any time I hear this matcho Bull, I always remeber the verse that says "Every Knee WILL bow, an Every tongue WILL confess, that Jesus is Lord of lords an King of kings"

No I don't think you've gotta be all girly in praisin God, no I don't think you've gotta shead a tear er anythin, each of us worships in our own way an that's fine, but le'me tell you sumthin, this MAN cries like a lil baby will I think of the awsomness of God, I cain't help but weep uncontrollbly when I praise God. I cain't help but break into tears when I'm drivin down the road talkin to Sarah bout how great, how mighty, how awsome our God is.

An I dare anyone to come up an say this is wrong, that there is sumthin girly bout it.

I'd meant to git more involved in that thread over yonder, but as often happens everwhere, I cain't keep up wit everthin goin on through out the day an lose track of everthin so havta abonded the thread, but I had meant to find these other songs they was talkin bout that was girly er whatever, cause all the ones I was familar wit are sittin in my play list already er I got ahold of em an I don't know of one of em that is off the mark.

:agree:

I think these folks are missing one very important point. We, as the Church, are the Bride of Christ. We are made to be in a feminine role to His masculinity. No, there's nothing wrong with it - that's the way it's supposed to be. Is it gay? I don't think so. I still like wimmen on this earth, but I am the Bride of Christ.

There's nothing sexual about it. It's simply the way it is.

Well there is a BIG dif between MADE TO LOVE YOU and MADE LOVE TO YOU.....

I can't think of any songs that say they want to bump uglies with God / Jesus....

If I write a song about how much I love my Mom / Dad / Siblings / Kids / Nieces and Nephews etc etc etc... There is nothing romantic or sexual about it.... Apply same song to God and people start thinking you want to get freaky with the Lord....

You can love God and express that love for him without making out that you LOVE God and want to get his back (if you know what I mean).....

Take Adam for example: he was designed in God's image AND he was designed to be in relationship with God.

Another example: Jesus and Peter. When Jesus asks Peter three times if Peter loves him, I can not believe that homosexual love was what was being discussed and still peter says yes all three times.

Overall, I think these men don't want to sing a song that professes love for a man (Jesus), because they are afraid that somone will label them as gay. If that is the case, they are looking to man for affirmation instead of to God.
