Awesome job! She's writing better than my oldest. We have had to use the "creative process" with her for every stinkin' thing she writes - including letters.

• OK - sit down and brainstorm about what you want to say.
• Put them in order.
• Elaborate on those ideas.
• Now make them into sentences.
• Write those sentences in the form of a letter/report/etc.
• Write it again - neater this time!

Dear Grandma,

This is Anneliese. I like to read before I go to bed. It helps me to go to sleep
and I also learn how to read better. Since I am 6 it is possible to learn more easily. Do you read before you go to sleep?

Sleep is important and if you don’t you will get sleepy the next day, but if we sleep we will not get sleepy.

Anneliese is 6, Mama is 29, Baby is 1, Elijah is 4 and Dada is 35. That is how old my family is.

How are you doing? Are you having fun? I am having fun because I am 6.

I went through and tracked changes on word and pasted it back on here but it did not show up... just thought I'd razz you- teachers joke all the time about always correcting things instead of enjoying how great they are as they are written. If someone sends me an email and there are a lot of misspelled words I just cringe...

I know what you mean. Drives me insane when I see adults making simple errors like that over and over and over...

I am going to start discussing sentence structure with her next week. Of course just the basic capitalization and periods for now. Spelling is coming naturally the more she is reading and the more we work on Phonics..
