Title: Stupid bicycle!!

Stringaling - May 21, 2007 06:09 PM (GMT)
Ok.so A got a bicycle for her birthday. She hasn't much opportunity to ride it because it take a movement of the entire family for her to go out and rde--read me getiting the stroller, the baby, the brother, everyone shoed, and lug them all out and across the street (we don't have sidewalks on our side) It other words it is a pain in the butt if there is only one adult to deal with the toddler and the other brother and help her o the bicycle...So I had the great idea of letting her ride down to the library when we walked down today to enroll in the summer reading program......BIG MISTAKE! a training whell came loose and she couldn't keep the thing upright, she refused to even ride at a walking speed so we were crawling, she couldn't walk beside the ting to push it and kept trying to drag it behind her, shich twisted the bars and turned the fron wheeel making it fall over. Finally get to the library, they don't have a wrench, go net door to a charity place, they have a plier adn it works to tightenit. She rides most of the way for about a block and a half and the training wheel has come loose again. So she's pushing it. I'm pushing th stroller laden with library books. I keep having to help her push the bikle too and the kids can't keep the stroller pointed straight, so I can't let them push it. I get pissed at all the whining and falling over of the bike and grab the thing, throw it over my shoulder and push the stroller with one hand. I am so touroughly pissed at his point. Can't carry it all the way so I put it down and tighten the training wheel with my fingers. And have her push it across busy main street when the lights are in our favor. She strts pushing it the right way, then starts pulling it behind her, twisting thebike and making it fall!!! We are now stopped in the middle of the street and I lose it./ Screamed at her for doing what I told her not to doa and tellig hre to hurry we are int eh middle of the street!!!! She starts crying and now I have to deal with her crying, the stroller, the bike and the brother too, and hurry us all uot of the nmiddle of the street. We finally got home more than an hour and a half after we left. It is a 15 minute walk to the library from my house!!!!!!!!! :wall: :wall:

Calgon-Take me away!!!

Did you apologize to her?

yeah, I did

OD was seven before she ascented to removing the training wheels. Told he she wouldn't play with anything else - dolls, toys, skates - until she learned how to ride it without. They don't make bikes big enough for a very tall seven-year-old!

Then forgive yourself. I lost it this morning. Apologized to my girl but of course, still felt like crap.

I am glad that it was a rare thing, though..I tolld her daddy that it is his responsibility to make sure that she learns to ride the thing now because I can't handle the whining....I'm hoping to get out there today and fix that trainign wheel...ugh!

We took Sarah's training wheels off the night before last. Tommy dropped her seat down really low so she could sort of walk it. She coasted downhill a couple of times until she found her balance and before we knew it, she was peddling on her own! What a cool parenting moment!

Now, if we could only get Sean to actually peddle his bike!

DS is 5 and we just took his training wheels off. He gets about 10 pedal rotations before he falls over on the lawn. It's funny...
DS3 still has his on. He's a big 3yo so it was hard finding a big enough 'small' bike for him...
