Title: Aniversary Question
Description: two aniversaries? Or one real one?

Okay my husband and I were married in a court house because I was pregnant and needed insurance real fast. That was on July 12, 2000. On May 10, 2003 we were married in Church by the priest and this time the marriage was a sacramental one, blessed by God, rather than the legal union ordained by the state. S when people ask me how long I have been married or when my nniversry is what should I say? 5 years and July 12, or two years and May 10??

5 years and July 12.
My husband and I were not married in a church but I still believe our marriage is blessed by God.

I second that.
God is everywhere... even in court!

five years is what I say too, but I do believe that there is something more special about the sacramental marriage than the court marrige--surely it can't be a coinsidence that our relationship has gotten better since then? But I also like teasing my husband about having two anniversaries, so I need two gifts!

I think you definitely need to celebrate Twice... heck the more the merrier, Heather and I still celebrate our first date anniversay!! heheh
I think you should tell people the court date though.

Agreed.
We also have two anniversaries. We eloped in California where we were married by my husband's pastor in the presence of a few friends and family. Then six weeks later we had a great big East Coast wedding with all of our family and friends. At the time, no one knew we were already married. It made it more fun for us!
We celebrate the first, but use the second as an excuse to get out of the house on a date without kids!

Well you have been married for five years... the second was kinda like renewing your vows....
God doesn't step out of the union just because it's not in a church....
and I can one up ya 4jacks...
Misty and I still celebrate the day we met....
Okay it's only two years.... but knowing her I'll be celebnrating it well into my 90s if I live that long....

We eloped five months before our wedding ceremony, so we celebrate two anniversaries as well.

We celebrate two anniversaries, but not for the same reason. Dec. 21 was our first kiss. We celebrate that in addition to Oct. 4 - the day we were married.
