Title: Showing off

Golfingmom - April 1, 2007 10:28 PM (GMT)
so we went to a nice restaurant for lunch today (inlaws treated us). My two kiddo's (almost 3&5) behaved so nicely! They said thank you, sat the entire time at the table (one bathroom break each) and ate their meal. DH and I try to take them out as much as possible but it's usually to 'family' restaurants where they always behave. I was surprised how well they behaved and so were the people around us! Yipee...so far my two kiddo's (both boys) are well mannered. We will try another 'upscale' restaurant when finances allow...Yep...I'm showing off :booyah: :booyah: :booyah: :thanks: :thanks: :stars: :stars:

Hooray for well mannered kids! It certainly is a rarity these days.

Good for you! Congratulations Mamma. I know how hard that is to achieve. Mine are not always so great when we're out.

My parents always took the five of us to nice restaurants and we were always very well behaved (terrified of the consequences helped with that I think). My dad, who was truck driver, didn't want to eat junk when he was at home and really liked to eat well.

Congrats!! I was mazed when a cashier at a party supply place thanks me for my well behaved kids. She said they appreciate it. Most of the time they have kids in there running around and up and down the aisles while the parents shopped. I think I would be breaking a few laws if my kids were to act like that. They would certainly regret it!

When my oldest was only a few months old, we took her to an upscale restaurant. Walking in, we felt the stares of people who were appalled to see a baby - a child that will more than likely cry at some time - come into the restaurant. The glares made me feel very uneasy.

But, when she sat silently through the meal, enjoying her meal of strained prunes or peas or carrots or whatever it was, the response from the crowd was quite different. Several people stopped by to congratulate us on how well behaved she was.

Oh, how I long for those days... :wall:

We go to restaurants there's screaming throwing of food.....

But the kids behave themselves.....

It's a wonder Misty still let's me go......

We've had the 'staring' in the airplanes. My DH used to fly so much we always got upgraded to first class so most of our vacations - we traveled in First. As soon as we would board, we got the stares. I still remember after one flight the person in front of my oldest (back then he was 1 year) said "you were here the entire flight?" when we reached our destination 5 hours later. I have tried really hard to teach them and continue to teach them good manners.
I constantly get the 'thank you' from ppl in stores or the "it's nice to see such well-mannered/behaved boys/kid" and it's rather sad since it seems like a rarety these days. Oh well...Yipee to fine dining...Now I just need the money   :thanks: :thanks:

It is sad. These days people just don't realise the benefits of :whip:

True. I *think* our kiddo's learned that hubby and I mean what we say when we say it. So when I say, do that one more time and you'll get a time out or whatever I follow through. I also don't count to 3 or 4 or 5. I've heard one mom count to "5" and she said 1, 2, 3, 4, I'm almost there, you know know what's next, do you understand? I'm starting again, 1, 2, 3 and she never did get to 5. What's the point?
Oh well. We aren't perfect parents, close but not perfect :tease: We set up boundaries and kept to them...I guess that's what helped...I don't know. So...who wants my autograph? :thanks: :tease: :gotcha:  :screwy:  :booyah: :P :rolf:

I guarantee you my kids won't start acting up when they get older. I don't have the patience for it. Mine will be the ones to say when they're grown up "If I had done that my mama would've ripped me a new one."

I had the experience of watching Talladega Nights last night. Hmmm - those boys, all they needed was a good whoopin'. Straightened them right up.
