Well, as I posted the other day bout the dual core pentium chips... thanks to the typical numbnuts an thier, le's make 50 different chips that all do the same thin, I'm now confused, I've been out of the market jes to long, so I need a bit of help. I was lookin at the Pentium D 955 extreme edition runnin wit a core of 3.46ghz, but the more I look, I find that the E6700's are apperently jes as good a chip but wit a clock speed of only 2.66, so far as I have been able to tell, the only real difference in the two chips is .. well one price, but the 955 EE supports HT (hyper-threadin for anyone who might not know what that is off hand etc) Where as the Duo core E6700 chips don't.
So, in the final analasis, which of the chips is a better deal? Not money wise, but performance wise? I haven't been able to find reviews of em worth a hoot. An I always like the idea of lower clock speeds an better performance because you don't have the heat to disapate wit the higher clock speeds. Espeically if their goin to perform jes the same, most the reviews I have found are guys ravin bout how they have over clocked the chip to 6.0 ghz, an I am not an over clocker, I don't like doin it, it's not worth the potential damage an cost for the extra bit of performance.
Over clocking is only fun when you do it to really old sysytems that are ready for the great dumpster dive in the sky....... and only if you have a much better newer system so that you can watcht he hilarity ensue and not blow your comp....
Dunno I'm not that hardcore of a hardware geek....
I enjoy playing but I haven't had the cash to play hard therefore I look when I need something......
If I had the cash to play I'd be able to give ya a better low down..... but It's like an alcoholic... to make sure they're not tempted to bad they need to keep away from the sauce... Misty doesn't let me in electronics stores unsupervised...... and if she doesn't have the stun gun handy I still can't go..... IT's the only way she can get me out again....
