I actually really hate to upgrade, while I enjoy the work an fun toyin wit thins, I dislike change in a lot of ways an I am really a very cheap SOB an don't like blowin money, I really liked it when I was a beta tester bunch of years ago an would git free hardware an the like.. but gone are those days anymore.

I've always really been into dual processin. Since the first P2 233's come around, I've been entrawlled wit em. Currently, I have 4 main system operatin, Sarah's, my server, my house pc an my truck one, all of em are dual P3's runnin at 933 an a couple at the 1.0 mark. Well, playin a game the other day I noticed piss poor performance an got to thinkin bout another major upgrade, all of these systems have been in operation for 5 years an they were pretty much out of date when I built em, most built from spare parts an the like. But have been excellent systems, like my xp based server, it's been in operation for pushin 50 days witout a restart, which... when it comes to windows is very suprisin to me hehe

Anyways, I got to lookin at some newer tech, I jes don't git to keep up wit it anymore an my eye has caught on these dual core Pentium chips. Seriously thinkin bout findin a 9xx series chip an cheap board for a test system. Anyone else mess wit these dual core chips? I should think they'd run fairly well, but of course so long as a piece of software could actually use dual chips. To many manufactures jes don't build software to run on a dual application. An I seen me some of those quad-core chips. Those look very expensive. An I hear the 8xx series dual cores run to hot. But these 9xx seem to come in of course several steppins, from sumthin like 2.4 to 3.0 er the like, but what really caught my attention was some of these chips had a 4 mb cache to em. 2X2mb, though there's some other wit jes 2X1mb. They really aren't "that" bad in money wise. Curse me I think I'm goin to do it.

Don't have the cash to go playing techie frankenstein like I used to...

Most of my spares come from dumpster diving.
