Title: Birthday Party/Sleepover??
Honey - February 28, 2007 02:47 AM (GMT)
So, would you let your kid sleep over at a "friend's" house as a part of a birthday party when you don't even know the kid's last name?
Luke comes home saying that he's invited to a birthday/sleepover party on Saturday. I think the invitation is supposed to come home tomorrow...:dunno: I'd never heard of this kid's name until today and neither had hubby. Don't even know his last name, where they live....nada. We're very leery of just letting him sleep over just anywheres...he's only 9 years old AND we don't know these people...how are we supposed to even trust them?
Whaddya say?

No way......
I'd consider a sleepover only if I knew the parents VERY well.....and right now, there is only ONE friend who I would even consider letting Andie sleep over at their house.
Sorry, but IMHO you gotta put your foot down and nix this one......

Uh..NO!!!
My parents didn't even allow sleep overs when they KNEW the family!
There's just too much at risk. I would allow my kiddo's to go to the party and then pick them up before the actually 'sleep'over beings...that is what my parents did with us. :violin:  :violin:  :violin:

I'm with everyone else. Not gonna happen.

Good! I was hoping y'all would say that! :D Luke's already giving me a hard time with this. The party starts at 6, so I figure he can probably stay 2 or 3 hours then we'll go pick him up.

I'd say no this time....
I'd meet the Kid... Meet the Parents then if everything stays cool.... I'd let them try it once.... Everything stays cool I see no further prob....
My kids spend the night at friends all the time, and they have friends stay over when Misty's epilepsy isn't messign with her too hard, or my Migraines meesing with me....
But I also look at it that you gotta give the kid a little freedom or they're gonna pick the lock and escape.....

Very true - but......little dude is only 9! :)
I agree w/ everyone...nope.

Yeah, he IS only 9...and with an attitude to boot! We want him to have fun and "freedom" without the sleepovers. So he told this kid already that he can't go and seems cool with it. I was surprised when he came home and told me that!

We threw a sleepover party for my daughter a couple of weeks ago. Had eight 8-year-olds running around the house, five of them spent the night. And I was drinking Red Bull by the case. (I needed the wings!)
We knew all the parents. Some didn't feel comfortable spending the night, so we did all the "birthday" activities before bedtime. The girl who lived across the street went home at midnight mad 'cuz she couldn't get to sleep! (and she was the wildest one in the bunch the rest of the time!)
But, if I don't know the family, I'd say "no" as well.
