Title: When is the best time of day to workout?

| Doing cardio first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach, before you eat anything, is by far, the most effective. Whether you run, jog, walk, swim, jump rope, take an aerobics class, ride a bike, etc., doing it first thing in the morning is the best time to do it for maximum fat loss. Why? Its simple. When you do your cardio workout, you are burning calories. Lets say you wake up, eat breakfast, eat lunch later in the day, and then a few hours after lunch, you do your cardio. All you will be doing during that cardio is burning the calories and carbs of the food you just ate. When you do cardio first thing in the morning, you haven't eaten anything for the last 8 or so hours because you were sleeping. So, when your body sees that there are no carbs to burn, it goes directly to stored bodyfat. And stored bodyfat is the fat that is on your body, which is the fat that you want to lose! |

Guess it makes sense, but I would literally :puke: if I worked out before I ate breakfast!!
I always heard that anytime is the best time, just so you DO IT......only not right before bed because you won't sleep as well.

I was working out RIGHT BEFORE bed in Sept/Oct and it didn't affect me much. I actually slept better b/c I was so tired...but I did go to sleep slightly later.
I work out when I can. There's no way I can get the kids to the gym early - esp. w/o anyone eating... :dunno:

I don't think I could workout before breakfast....I'd probably :faint: I need something in my stomach before doing anything. Get the blood sugar up!
Last summer I would go bike riding for a half hour after supper. I actually slept pretty good. B)

It is true that you would lose more fat - but I doubt it would be that big of a deal. Like mama said - as long as you are doing something!
I have worked out before eating and really have no issues with it - but anymore its an issue of time. I don't have the time first thing. Plus, I would think your workout wouldn't be as "intense" because you would get tired quicker w/ no "fuel" in your body. Just my thoughts on it.

That makes sense.....no fuel, so I think you wouldn't be able to put as much into your workout as you would if you ate breakfast or at LEAST a protein shake or something......

Not just that BUT my guess is one (me) would over eat breakfast since the blood sugars would be so low etc.
I used to run first thing in the morning and it made me feel blah for most of the morning to mid afternoon...I prefer my mid afternoon workouts... :thanks:

Wouldn't burning 300 calories in the mornign be the same as burning 300 calories in the evening???..As long as one is watching the calorie intake, I would think that it would all balance out.......??
