Title: Buying flowers...

rasplundjr - February 20, 2007 10:27 PM (GMT)
Been thinking....

I'm not sure I'm gonna do too much more "Buying Flowers" froma florist shop for my wife....

She gets a bigger kick out of the wild ones I find at the side of the road. But on a larger note I thing that if I buy misty flowers from here on out I'm gonna do what I can to find her live flowers that she can plant, and then maybe transplant later once the weather warms up... do I really want to symbolize my love for my wife with something that withers nad dies inside a week? Isn't that just setting hte relationship up for further turmoil?

A bouquet of flowers every once in awhile is sweet.....but I do like the idea of something she can re-plant outside, or even in a nice pot for inside the house.

You're a good guy, Raspy!!

I love receiving flowers though my favorite was the sunflower weed that Louis picked for me WHILE he was driving down a dirt road :mistletoe:

I haven't received flowers in YEARS. I've received quite a few plants that are around the house/backyard/frontyard...but no bouquets...

I told hubby not to buy anymore after he spent A LOT of money (which we didn't have) on Tulips from South America. They were amazing...but were delivered on a Thursday (v-day) and we went away for the wknd and returned Monday night. By then they were 'done'. I said no more! :thanks:

Last time I got flowers was our anniversary. A dozen red roses for our dozenth (is that a word?) year! :bounce:

A couple summers ago while hubby was out yard saling, he brought me a bag full of flower & plant seeds. I think he paid like, 50 cents for the whole thing!

Guys just don't get flowers...

It doesn't matter that they whither up and die! It's the thought that counts. A box of chocolates doesn't last forever either nor does perfume or many other gifts. It's all about the thought. Infact I love flowers and the fact that they die is a bonus to me actually. I can enjoy them for a week then throw them away so I won't be adding clutter to the house. I can have the lovey-dovey feeling of the gift and not have to find a place to stow a special gift away (cos I always want to keep romantic gifts). It's a win-win situation!

Maybe I just read to much into the symbolism then.....

Here this is supposed to represent my love for you.... dust in a week.... I don't like that imagery.

Ah, but the thought stays with me forever so lives on just like love. And "you" were even thoughtful enough to get me something that won't clutter my house :)
