Title: Children's names

Golfingmom - February 10, 2007 06:57 PM (GMT)
What are some of the most odd names you've heard? I don't mean what do people call their kiddo's but actual given names?

I recently heard:

Wolfgang.

andiesmama - February 10, 2007 08:30 PM (GMT)

Hubby has a friend by that name.

Can't think of any outrageous names right now....

"Squatpuke" actually sounds like someone with a bulemic disorder...or that's what I thought when I first saw it! :gotcha:

daytrail- he was a thugged out first grader. You'd think he'd have hippy, outdoorsy parents but, no he was a little homie. I always want to name our future daughter Ketura (after Ketura Belknap a pioneer woman- her nickname was Kit). My wife says no though.

That's a classic German name. That's like calling your son John or Matthew here is the US. It's really common in Germany.

Having just had a baby you can bet I came across some doozies on my Sep 2006 birth board.

Here are some from babies born in Sep 06

KaYori
Deja
Akeila
Oni Chinyere
Kjestine

Jory
Loki
Bodie Etalo

John.

I mean... seriously. Naming your kid John just tells me that the parents didn't bother to put any thought into their kid.

Think I remember hearing that one of the Olympic ice skaters named their kid "Blade."

Eamon is a traditional Irish name. Eamon isn't that uncommon in England because there are quite a lot of Irish there.

There aren't that many weird names in my family. My cousin has a daughter called Tamzin. My sister probably has the weirdest named boy - his name is Tai.

We have an old Teletubbies (yes, Teletubbies!) video where "Tamzin, the funny lady" makes an appearance. She is funny!

Oh - and Tai Anderson is the bassist for Third Day...

I thought it was Jamaican... You know - "Eamon! 'Ow are ya, mon?"

I bet you could do a great Jamaican accent, Clay.

I'll give you an Honourary Jamaican badge. Now we can play dominoes and drink coconut water together. :)

Coconut water's only good when it's splashed in a glass full o' rum. :drunk:

In Barbados, I ordered Rum Punch. I'd had it before. A glass of punch with a shot of rum. No, this was different. In Barbados, you order a rum punch, you get a glass of rum with a shot of punch - for color.
