Title: Good Monday Morning!
Description: ARGHH!!!!!!!

clayman - February 5, 2007 12:09 PM (GMT)
At about 5:30 this morning, my oldest came running to me, screaming "She's crying and I don't know why!" The "she" was her little sister

I said, "OK - go lay down in my bed and I'll see what's going on."

Well, little sister had :puke: d all over her bed. I mean, all over!! I got her cleaned up and sent her to my bed - after first verifying that her tummy felt better. Now, I'm doing :laundry: - 'course I'm not smiling like that freak...

I really wanted to go back to bed this morning!!! :wall:

LynnMcG - February 5, 2007 01:12 PM (GMT)
Ahhh, the stomach flu.

I've got my last sickie at home today. She goes back to school tomorrow.

What stinks about this virus is that it's not 24 hours like that good old fashioned bug we got as kids. My daughter threw up for a better part of Friday morning then nothing until Sat. night, then once more time on Sunday morning. It's so weird.

I feel your pain brother. Can't tell you wait a pain in the you-know-what it is to change pukey sheets on the top bunk. But hey, I count myself blessed just because she didn't go over the edge onto her brohter!

Honey - February 5, 2007 02:06 PM (GMT)
Ew. That stinks. Take it easy today, dad!

andiesmama - February 5, 2007 03:01 PM (GMT)
No stomach bug here but Andie started coming down with a cold last night.....

Stuffy nose, cough this morning BUT she still wanted to go to school....

Pushing OJ and Airborne into her, hopefully that'll knock it out before it has a chance to get started.

Hang in there, Clay.....and wash them hands!! You don't wanna catch whatever the little one has.......

clayman - February 5, 2007 04:03 PM (GMT)
Bananas and rice today. The sheets were on the bottom bunk. I practically had to lay in "it" in order to remove them.

Then after the girls went back to sleep at 7:00, I went back to bed. Just woke up!  :D

andiesmama - February 5, 2007 04:09 PM (GMT)

There's nothing worse.....I can handle pretty much anything, but :puke: really gets to me..........

She's sleeping - in my bed. :yikes:

But at least she's sleeping. She took the nausea medicine (Emetrol) and laid down on the floor.

Everything's cleaned up, and my oldest and I have started on lessons for the day. We're taking a break right now.

Oh, boy. I love Mondays. :nono: :wall: :hammer:

But if one of 'em pukes, a custodian (or is it hygenic engineer?) comes and cleans it up...

clayman - February 5, 2007 09:44 PM (GMT)
She's doing better now. Napped all day and woke up feeling better. She's eating crackers and drinking water right now.

Oh - and running around like there was never a problem.

Honey - February 5, 2007 09:49 PM (GMT)
Fun, fun! At least she's recovering!

Seige 31 puking brats... that's a dream compared to 200+ drooling idiots......

User: "I need my cupholder replaced..."

Why don't you make them clean it up? If I make a mess around the house my wife makes me clean it up and what do I learn? I learn not to make that mess again. If after your kid pukes their guts out you rub their nose in it and then make them clean it up you know the next time they have to puke they'll make it to the bathroom or swallow it!

Why not? I did it to the friggin' cat! I s'pose I could do it to the kids as well! But, alas, she's only 3. Maybe I could ge by with that on the seven-year-old (8 in less than two weeks!)
:haha:

Dude - I knew I liked you.

My oldest had the 24 hour bug Christmas Eve eve. He started at 2AM on the top bunk. I moved him to the couch which I covered with ALL our beach towels. I laid on the opposite side so when I heard the coughing and knew what was coming I grabbed a bucket and held it for him. He threw up 5 X's. Basically every hour on the hour. No one else got sick though...LYSOL. I sprayed LYSOL ALL DAY LONG...

andiesmama - February 6, 2007 01:40 AM (GMT)
*andiesmama runs to go check her Lysol supply...........

Oh my gosh, that happened here too! We were cleaning Sarah up and the stupid cat decides to puke twice in the living room and once in the kitchen. AAAAAHHHHH!

Now that we're done with the stomach flu, I think Sean has a fever with his boogies.

Glad we don't have a cat. At least with our fish...if they happen to throw up it goes back in their water...
Did ALL of you get the stomach flu?

Last year, Sean got the stomach bug BAD, REALLY bad. He was throwing up plus he had diarhea for 6 days. SO I'm lysoling EVERYTHING. He's still in a toddler bed so I sprayed the mattress and all over where he sleeps under the bunk. So a couple days into this we came home from taking his sister to school and he goes right to bed. Poor little guy was so tired he put his head under the pillow and just crashed. He woke up two hours later, looking like a boxer. Do you guys remember this? I posted pictures. His eyes were swollen shut. His face was red, and puffy. He had an allergic reaction to the Lysol!! So here I am spraying the entire house with the stuff, trying to prevent this plague from passing on to the rest of the family and I just about kill my poor little baby!

When I called Lysol, to report the allergic reaction to consumer affairs they informed me that I should not spray fabric or pourus surfaces. Good time to tell me that!

Golfingmom - February 6, 2007 02:34 AM (GMT)
Yikes.
I clean the house with Lysol every week. I wipe down the bathrooms, door handles, etc. I use LYSOL to clean. BUt when DS had the stomach flu in December, I also sprayed Lysol air sanitizer in the bathroom and around the house every once in a while. No one has had a reaction...
I did also not allow ANYONE but him to use one bathroom - we used the other and no one but me was allowed to touch him...and after I touched him I washed my hands thoroughly. My hands were very dry at the end of the day. I was just happy no one else got sick...
DS has a lot of :fart: today...He rarely has it...

clayman - February 6, 2007 01:05 PM (GMT)
DANG!!! Y'all sound a bit over-protective about germs. Heck, I figure they're gonna get it one way or another. Better to build up immunity than to try and keep 'em from it.

Experience tells me it's better to get some of these things as a child than as an adult. When my oldest was in day-care, she brought home a bug caused by "Cyto-megalo-virus". Kids with it get the sniffles. Once you get it, you never get it again. Me, I never had it. I wound up sick in bed with pneumonia for three weeks. They never admitted me to the hospital, though I did spend a lot of time at the dr. office. Wife had to take time off from work to drive me there, too. It was rough! I understand chicken pox is the same way.

So, whenever one person in the house gets sick, we load up on vitamins and Airborne. I swear by Airborne! It's awesome stuff! And the gummi lozenges aren't bad ('specially coming from an old man who hates all things gummi!)

EGGZACTLY! I very, very rarely EVER use any Lysol or what have you to "disinfect" my house. Garbage cans, yes. But doorknobs or furniture? No way.

I'm seeing here that the MORE Lysol you're spraying (what the heck is in those CANS????  :dunno: )...the sicker the kids seem to get!

Maybe it's just me....:dunno: :bonk:

LynnMcG - February 6, 2007 01:49 PM (GMT)
I used to just air out the house. The problem is that this old house is crooked. The kids' bedroom door doesn't close. So I think I need to find a way to cover their door with a blanket today, and air it out. It's like 5 degrees out today...that outta kill anything lurking in there!

Honey - February 6, 2007 02:02 PM (GMT)
Our house is very old and drafty, too. We constantly have cold air blowing in here. Especially upstairs where we sleep! We even had to put plastic in front of the windows to keep from getting TOO much of that
-20+ draft out!

Mom always said that a cold house in the winter was a healthier house. Must be true...

andiesmama - February 6, 2007 03:19 PM (GMT)
We're on the upswing today, she's home from school and is laying in my bed watching tv.

I spray the Lysol when they're on the road to recovery (like today), to get rid of the lingering germs so they can get better sooner.......I've sprayed down her room and bathroom. Thinking I'll go in and open her window, it's chilly out today (well, 61 F), so it should air out nicely.

heh heh...His tune will change when its his own child puking all over his house....

Isaac(my 19 month old) started vomiting and having diarrhea last Wednesday. Because he is so little and his immune system not as strong as the rest of us, he had it all weekend. Thursday He was having so much diarrhea that I had to totally forget school for my oldest. The kids were sitting on the floor watvching Peter Pan on Thursday night and Isaac threw up on the floor, and while I am getting that one cleaned up my 4 year old vomits on the floor too...all the way to the bathroom. There was nothing left in him by the time he got there.. Within two hours my husbadn is running to the toilet distrespecting it in all manners you can think of, yelling at it etc....
So Friday I was up late fjorcing fluids into hte baby, listening to my Dh insult the toilet......nice..

Baby still has a bit of diarrhea, but I think I can resume schooling today... Believe me, I noticed immediately whenit was all the males of the family who got sick....shall I say "weaker vessel"??
