Title: I am SO mad right now....
Honey - January 30, 2007 10:15 PM (GMT)
Have I ever said how much I HATE the public school my kids are in?
I'll post more later. I am just SO mad.

Ok, I am pissed beyond reason....yes, it's that bad.
Luke got beat up and threatened a death threat from a so-called "friend". At last recess he and his other buddies were having fun playing, when these 3 other boys came and just attacked him. For no reason. The principal was informed and only kept ALL the boys indoors for the remainder of the recess. Totally unfair to Luke because HE did nothing wrong!!!!!!!! So the principal was supposed to call home, but she never did. All she was gonna say was that Luke had a rough day and got hurt a little bit....she was gonna SUGAR COAT it like she does with everything else. She's such a B****! I am fed up.
And to top it off, these 2 dumb dogs were playing in the middle of the road while bringing Luke home from Bible club this afternoon. I honked and honked and one went around the car, but the other got knicked. I hear him yelp and run away....STOOOOOOOPID DOG! :lena:

Found this on the school's website:
| QUOTE |
A Mandatory and immediate*suspension will occur for:
~swearing at a teacher, or other person in authority;
~being in possession of alcohol or illegal drugs;
~being under the influence of alcohol;
~uttering a threat to inflict serious bodily harm on another person;
~acts of vandalism causing extensive damage to school property or property located on school premises.
In these instances, police will be involved, as required, and conditions to return to school will be specified in accordance with school board policies and procedures. |
The boy that started this AND uttered a threat to Luke better be getting some sort of punishment!

Take it to the principal's boss. Does Canada have public school boards like the US does? Are those board members elected?
Either pull your kids out or raise holy hell (I've always liked that oxymoron!) with the school board. Run yourself. Run a dirty campaign telling the voters what you had to put up with in the public schools. Tell the voters you're homeschooling because the public school system sucks. Tell the voters that they put your kids in an ESL class because their last name sounded Deutsche - and they did it without notifying the parents. Tell the voters how appallingly bad the special education is - and that you pulled your autistic child out because they were not teaching him a damn thing. Tell the voters all the crap you had to put up with over the last year - and it's time for a change. The change is Honey - and you better not mess with Honey or you'll get sticky!
If they're not elected - or if they're run by some bureaucracy, you're stuck.

Honey - January 31, 2007 01:14 PM (GMT)
First, I have to talk to the principal. If our conversation gets nowhere, then I will call our school's superintendent and inform him about what's going on. I know what to do, it's just a matter of doing it. Heck, I may even write up a lovely letter to the editor for the local newspaper! :hmm:
Redguard - January 31, 2007 01:18 PM (GMT)
I think you should grease yourself up in olive oil and beat up the principal.

Hey--that's an idea! Tell her that if you beat her up and threatened her life, you'll make sure to do it in her school that you'd be safe and only get some office time...
rasplundjr - January 31, 2007 03:09 PM (GMT)
I'd say screw it go straight to the police.
Inform them your child was attacked on school grounds and the school is doing nothing.
Show them the policy where serious threat against your child should involve the police.
Then threaten legal action against the kids parents.
Then inform the School they ever try to whitewash a situation like that again you'll have the media and police down on them so fast they're gonna think they're a cupcake at a fat kid convention.

My folks did that in California. The Sheriff came a-knockin' at the school doors one day 'cuz I was gettin' the snot kicked outta me every day.
Oh - and I second what String said. Those homeschool books are expensive!!!
Which reminds me. I'm starting a fund-raiser to pay for mine. Anyone want to buy something?
Honey - January 31, 2007 04:49 PM (GMT)
Well, I've not had any contact with the school yet. I was hashing things out with another mom who has had her kids in the same school, has been there and DONE everything and she told me NOT to contact the school by phone. That's what they want. They want us to take the bait so that they can accuse US of being "paranoid".and possibly even call children's services on us, as what happened to her and her family and several others in similar situations.
So...here's what I AM and WILL do. I will be writing a letter. I've attended enough workshops about these things and at every one, they say LEAVE A PAPER TRAIL!!! And to be honest and with my experience so far, it's been best than just bitching it out over the phone. As much as I would LOVE to do that....it'll just get me into bigger :fan: I have told Luke to just stay away from this kid. Apparently, this SAME kid is the biggest instigator as he was with my friend's kids. AND....get this...some teachers PAY the kids to beat up other kids! :blink:

Oh yeah....about HSLDA....would they be able to do anything? Only Isaiah's on the "membership" list...what about the other kids?

No. They will help if someone comes and gives you problems about Isaiah being homeschooled only. If some punk beats him up, though, they cannot help you. They will only help with homeschooling issues and this is not one.

What happened to SQUAT?? Who morphed him into my husband?! That's all hubby's been saying...Man, I WISH that guy had a temper sometimes! I wish I could see him going over and tearing things up and being all demanding. But, no. He is cool as a cucumber (or so it seems. He never lashes out.) when it comes to stuff like this and he takes it all to prayer. :sigh:
Ironically, forgiveness was Luke's Bible lesson in Bible club yesterday as well.

however, I think I'd rather see String and Honey in that cage.
String has the hair-color and reach going for her...but she'd have to protect her ankles from being bitten by "the small one".
Then again, Honey plays dirty....It would be a good fight though....

Ok, letter's on the way to the school. It stated very clearly what our expectations are of the school and I cited the "rule book".
Luke seemed in a better mood just before heading out the door. Naturally, he was still afraid about running into the other brat. Hubby's all for "don't fight back"....so I can't really give Luke any fighting tips. :bored: BUT! I did give him one little tip....just scream. Screaming will get other's attention. Yeah, I know, that's a "girl thing" and Luke was concerned that the other boys will say he screams like a girl....hey, it worked for me! B) Besides, when you're all angry and scared at the same time, when you scream it comes out pretty good! Another, it provides time to get the other boys to actually back off and comment on it. So there's time to go fetch a teacher, if he/she hasn't arrived already.

My two nephews ALWAYS fought. The older one "ruled" over the younger one (different families) and finally one day my BIL told his son, the younger one, if he hits you or yells or takes a toy away, just push him. So of course that's what happened. I was there! I've never seen a kid fly so far across the room!!! It was hilarious and the older one ran away to a different room and cried. It was classic.
It's a hard call but if my child is getting beat up...I'd want him to know how to defend himself...I think :dunno:
Honey - February 1, 2007 05:44 PM (GMT)
:lol: Yeah, catching them off-guard usually is funny! Heck, Candace has cornered Luke a few times. She can get real feisty! :box:
Luke did defend himself by pushing down another boy. He then felt guilty afterwards because hubby says he shoudn't have done that. :doh: I told Luke that it was ok, because it was in SELF DEFENSE and a totally normal reaction. Maybe I oughta fight hubby and see if he fights back! Then give him shit when he does! :lol: I'll teach a lesson or 2...B)

Ok....the school finally called me and the principal put us on the speaker phone so the VP could hear and talk as well. They agreed with my letter but they were very surprised about the death threat. :doh: They had called the cops over (so yes, the police car I did see when I picked up Luke WAS related to the incident)...and the officer didn't see this as a bullying issue, but rather some boys getting carried away while playing. :huh: Anyhoo....seeing that this upset Luke and us very much, the principal will be issuing an apology as well as the other boys apologizing to Luke, since he was the one who was HURT pretty bad. The principal is fully aware of his jab to the stomach with a knee.
Whatever. I'm just glad this is over for now...
