Title: My Sister
LynnMcG - December 20, 2006 04:53 PM (GMT)
My sister Eileen is getting evicted...again. She can't hold a job. She got fired from her last job when she didn't show up for work for 2.5 weeks. She said she had bronchitis and that her boss told her to go home and not come back until she stopped coughing (she did telephone sales). When she came back to work, she was shocked to hear her boss tell her she was fired for not coming to work for 2.5 weeks. DUH!!
She's been in the habit of sponging off the guy of the moment. Right now, she's waiting for the next guy to come along and pick up the tab. No one wants to date her because she looks so damn scary. She avoided going to the doctor, because she was afraid. She has Graves Disease which has caused her eyes to protrude significantly from her head. So she's getting ready to get back together with the last idiot who regularly beat the crap out of her. wow, what a great idea!
OK, she's being evicted because she reported the building to the health department. Seems there's black mold on the wall that the super just keeps painting over. Now I realize that's serious. BUT, the when the health inspector came to her house, he came in with her landlord...who was probably ticked at being reported for a violation. He saw her cats (a violation of her lease) and he's evicting her.
This is NOT the first time she's been evicted. Last time she racked up a couple of thousand in utility bills and rent that she never paid...I'm sure that'll catch up to her one day. The time before that, she was living in an illegal apartment over the bar she was working at. She had stuff stolen from the shed and she actually called the cops a couple weeks later to see if they had any leads on who stole her crap. When they said, "where do you live?" and she told them, they reported her landlord/boss to the town for an illegal dwelling. Surprise, surprise, she got evicted!!! AND lost her job. She was sincerely shocked.
OK, so today, she doesn't have the nerve to call me and ask for help. So she has her twin call me. I said, "I dont know. We're so insanely busy every night this week. I can't see how we can do it. See if she can get someone else to do it, and I'll find out at the end of the day if Tommy can grab some of the stuff this afternoon."
Apparently, that wasn't good enough. SO, she called Tommy at work. He's blessed to have work this week. He's on only job that's running this week because of the holiday. It's a hotel in a business district, so they're pretty slow this time of year. His foreman DOES NOT tolerate phone calls. If he ticks off the foreman, he gets the rest of the week off -- without pay.
Does my sister care?! No. Of course not. She only cares about herself. Does she care if my husband loses the most amazing job he's ever had? No, of course not.
Are we helping her to move her sorry butt? No. Of course not.

Does that mean I can crack her in the head?

Sure, you can crack her in the head, but I wouldn't count on a pleasant reaction...

I'm just so frustrated with my family. My sisters are 38 years old. One lives home with mom, and isn't going anywhere. And this one is trying to get back in the house because she's jealous that the other one is living there - free of charge. Can't blame her. BUT Jayne is disabled. Eileen is just nuts!
All of this junk with my sisters falls to me, because my oldest brothers have washed their hands of it. I'm trying to "detatch with love." But it's hard when they call and try to drag me back in. My mom is 74 years old. What the heck happens when she dies? You know they're not going to be supporting themselves by then! They'll get their 1/5 of the estate and I probably won't hear from them in the six months it's going to take for them to blow it. Then they'll be knocking on my door looking for food or a place to live.
At what point does God say, ok enough? Does He?

And I don't think God will ever say "ok, that's enough for you!".....He can help you through it and deal with it, though, yannow?
Tough love....that's right....especially when it comes the time when your mom is no longer around.....you canNOT be expected to support your full-grown sisters.....

God will give you what you need to deal with it, but remember: He ran out of patience with the Israelites many, many times! (read the book of Judges and read about the exile...)
Advice? I have none. Unfortunately, my experience is more as one of your sisters than you. My wife worked with Jesus to turn me in to a stand-up citizen. I can pray, however, that the Lord guides you through this.

Thanks guys.
Turns out not only did my sister report her landlord, she called the state department of health. She unleashed a can of you-know-what on her landlord. I cannot believe how foolish she can be! (I'm choosing my words VERY carefully). Apparently, it got so heated with the landlord, the inspector, and my sister that she had to call the police...which is something she loves to do. She's big into drama. She's like those out of control women you see on cops.
