Title: 6 week body makeover
LynnMcG - December 7, 2006 09:41 PM (GMT)
OK, I ordered the Michael Thurmond 6 week body makeover. It came today. It took me like an hour to open and organize everthing. And right now, I should be reading it, because it's got tons and tons to read. But it looks really cool. And really promising. It has you type your body and then creates a diet and exercise plan based on your body type. You eat all day - 6 times a day. So you're really never hungry.
The biggest thing, is that they guarantee 30 lb. loss in 6 weeks or your money back. So I'm up for the challenge!

 Guarantee it?? A 30 pound loss?? That's like 5 pounds a week....
Do ya have a link? I expect reports back from you, I may try it after I see how it's working for you....

30 lbs in only 6 weeks? Sounds kinda far-fetched to me...:dunno: I'm very skeptical with programs like that.
At least you should get your money back if it doesn't work. Good luck!
LynnMcG - December 8, 2006 02:01 PM (GMT)
OK, I read more of the program last night. It's not that far fetched. It's eating 6, small meals a day with toning and cardio. On the infomercial they talk about "just 18 minutes a day". But when you get into a little more you see that obviously you need to do cardio to burn more fat. But they teach you how to work within your target heart rate so that you are in fat burning mode.
Ultimately, what happens is that you're feeding your metabolism with lean, low calorie food so that you're burning more fat all the time.
What I thought was really great too though, was the support. There's an online forum, just like Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, or Slim Fast. BUT, you can also do a live chat with a specialist or call an 800 number for help. They give you tons of information to read, CDs and DVDs to watch and listen... It's totally customized to your body type and needs. It seems like it's really worth the money.
Here's the site: www.bodymakeover.com

Well, its been a few days since you got the program...How's it going? Have you started yet? You're gonna have to give us at least weekly updates, you know..
andiesmama - December 11, 2006 04:23 PM (GMT)
Yes, please....keep us posted because I want to hear from somebody I KNOW how it really works....I might get it after the first of the year....
LynnMcG - December 11, 2006 05:52 PM (GMT)
OK, I officially started the plan on Saturday. I lost 3 lbs in two days, so that's pretty cool. I need to really get into the groove of the plan though. It bugs me having to eat every two hours. I ate more than my husband yesterday! OH! And I have to drink 100 oz. of water a day! I hate drinking water! That's the hardest part so far. Well, that and having to eat so much protein. But I think once I get a few weeks into this, get over this beginning hump and get some positive results, I'll feel better about that.
Stringaling - December 12, 2006 12:54 AM (GMT)
100 ounces!!?? :faint:
How do you manage that?
Also how do they advise keeping the weight off after the 6 weeks?
Geez, between hanging out here and peeing all day, Lynn will be one busy girl!! :rolf:
andiesmama - December 12, 2006 03:17 AM (GMT)
yeah...100 oz is ALOT....I BARELY get in 65....
Honey - December 12, 2006 01:25 PM (GMT)
Hey Lynn. How much do you plan on losing?
LynnMcG - December 12, 2006 05:36 PM (GMT)
You guys crack me up...
OK, drinking 100 oz isn't as hard as you think. It's 12:30 p.m. and I've already had 64 oz. So between eating every two hours and peeing...I'm a busy girl!!
This is a lifestyle change. But once you hit your goal (mine is about 50 lbs. I want to see how my body reacts and how I look) there is a maintenance plan. The thing is, is that the program revs up your metabolism so that even when you eat off plan, you can get back on track pretty quickly. The trick is to eat those 6 small meals/snacks.
Stringaling - December 12, 2006 07:10 PM (GMT)
I still can't imagine drinking 100 nounces... I'd have to fill up the sink and stand there with a really big straw all day long!..
andiesmama - December 12, 2006 07:20 PM (GMT)
$140....that's alot of money....maybe I'll use my ChaCha $$ to get it....

It's guaranteed. So you can get your money back of you don't like it or it doesn't work in 6 weeks. That's what sold me. Plus, it's cheaper than doing Weight Watchers, or any other program that's out there right now.
LynnMcG - December 14, 2006 10:09 PM (GMT)
Little update...
I'm down 4 lbs, and still two days from my official weekly weigh in...AND I haven't done any exercise this week! I hope this plan works.

It's sounding great.....did you have to spend alot at the grocery store to buy all your food?
And how about feeding your family? Do they eat what you do?
Stringaling - December 15, 2006 12:31 PM (GMT)
I really believe that you probably will lose at least the 30 they are guaranteeing, but I am concerned about how you are supposed to keep it off after the 6 weeks is up...do they provide a maintainance diet for after?
LynnMcG - December 15, 2006 02:33 PM (GMT)
Well, I did have to buy more chicken than I would normally. But that's really it. Lots of fruits and veggies. As far as feeding my family is concerned, I don't know really. Tommy had dental work done this week, so he didn't really eat normally.
Yes, there is a maintance plan. It is a significant lifestyle change to start with. But when you read the testimonies of the men and women who've lost more than 100 lbs. and kept it off for years, I figure it has to work.
Stringaling - December 20, 2006 07:55 PM (GMT)
A week and a half into it now...How's it going?
andiesmama - December 20, 2006 07:59 PM (GMT)
I decided I'm gonna make that my goal with the ChaCha money & get it when I've made enough....

Oh sister, I chose the wrong time to do this.
It started to work. Really! But I'm so overwhelmed with Christmas and all my responsibilities that I can't even find time to eat. Yesterday, I didn't eat until 2 p.m. You can't do that with this plan. You have to eat every 2.5 hours. So I'm giving myself the week off and I'm hitting the plan again next week. I got a new exercise DVD from Netflix (Leslie Sansone 3 mile challenge), which I'm excited about. And I was thinking of driving over to the track in the middle of the day since Sean's in school all day (after Christmas break) and doing a couple of laps around the track before we get snow. I love walking in the winter. I just bundle up in layers and go.
I'm doing it though. That would be awesome if you got it to Deb. We could do it together. You'd hit your goal in no time at all.

I was really wondering about that. I mean come on! You['d miss the FUDGE! and the PIE and the GRAVY! How on earth would one be expected to do that????
Honey - December 21, 2006 04:12 PM (GMT)
I would've at least waited til New Year's....:P :gotcha:

OK, I've officially ended the holidays in our house and begun my 6-week body makeover...again.
This morning, I took pictures of myself - front, side, back - and drew on them (they ask you to do this in the workbook) to show what I want my ideal body to look like.
I started the plan yesterday actually, so I'll do my weigh-ins on Sunday mornings. So far, so good. Yesterday I made a bunch of food to get me on track. I did 20 minutes on my bike last night and a 45 minute Leslie Sansone DVD this morning. I peed about 6 times between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. THEN had to get up 3 times during the night to go!! I hope my body gets used to 100 oz. of water soon!!

Well, this can't be temporary for me. I need to make a lifestyle change but it was too hard to do it during Christmas. I figure by next Christmas I'll have this change under control.
My first goal, is February 18. That's 6 weeks. My next goal, is my 40th birthday. That's 10 weeks. After that, it's all maintenance and better health!
Stringaling - January 9, 2007 06:33 PM (GMT)
you are brave......I couldn't do it so drastically....I'd have to make gradual changes...

You know what String, it's not really that bad. It's only food, right? I look at my husband, who is naturally very thin. He says food is simply for sustenance. He doens't think about it the way I do...which is what got me into this predicament in the first place!! So I've been trying to look at it like that. It still tastes good, but just because I didn't have homemade pizza with my family last night doesn't mean I'll never have it again for the rest of my life. As soon as I'm on the maintenance plan, I can have it once a week if I want. I need to get over this food thing. That's the bottom line. Oh, and pray. I've really been seeking God through this.
Now, I'm going to look for a picture of a totally hot dress I can wear to my neice's wedding on April 29 and then tape it all over my house! That'll be my incentive...that and the Victoria's Secret gift card I got for Christmas. :eyebrows: I want to get something totally hot by my birthday in March.

I wish I could have your motivation--I thik that i'm dealing with mild depression right now so that kind of makes things harder. I know that if i just get up and do my workouts that i feel better, but its getting the motivation to do it in between schooling, cleaning, child care etc... that is hard..

I know exactly what you mean. This is a battle for me. It's harder than it's ever been before. But I need to do something. And honestly, I'm just trying to get to the point where this is second nature and I'm not thinking about it too much. Because right now, my house is suffering. I'm researching, reading about the plan, putting off doing stuff I'm supposed to be doing... But the kids are clean, everyone has clean clothes, and I'm still cooking. I'm definately not going above and beyond in any way right now.
