Title: Brazilian Wax?

andiesmama - December 6, 2005 09:38 PM (GMT)
I'm watching Oprah & they were talking about getting a Brazilian wax... :yikes:

Are you ladies familiar with this? And would you ever consider getting one?

Ok, so what is that? LOL

That's where they stick wax strips up your butt to get rid of all that hair! You can't walk or sit for a week! Plus you'll walk around on your tiptoes! :yikes: No, no personal experience here...just what I've read. And NO I would NOT do that!

Mandy - December 6, 2005 10:30 PM (GMT)

I did an at-home waxing kit :)

Honey - December 6, 2005 10:32 PM (GMT)
Didn't it hurt? I mean, just the thought of yanking all that hair out.....YOUCH!

Mandy - December 6, 2005 10:49 PM (GMT)

Yeppers, it certainly hurt, but it worked so much better than shaving. It takes forever though, so I'm back to shaving.

besides doing it up your butt, they do it in the "bikini area"...from what they said on Oprah, just leaving a little "triangle" down south....

One of the ladies that did have it done, said on a scale of 1 - 10, it was an 8 1/2....

andiesmama - December 6, 2005 11:29 PM (GMT)
ok...I just found an article about the Brazilian wax....going into detail about how they do it....read it if you dare!!
**warning...kind of graphic...Lena, feel free to delete it if you think it's too much!**
Brazilian Wax

AAACK! EEEESH! Just the thought of waxing....*shivers and shudders*

mdolls68 - December 6, 2005 11:51 PM (GMT)
I'd try it. It does, however, sound a bit painful and you definitely cannot be shy.

I, too, shave that area on a regular basis and the effect is nearly similar (though I do not do a triangle). Probably the shaving part is overall more work, but I don't have to go to someone.

However, when I do get to my physical goals and get to wear those WW bikinis, I'll go in for waxing. I have the perfect aesthetician whom I've been going to for years whom I feel comfortable with.

I'm too uncomfortable to get waxed down there.

Honey - December 7, 2005 02:51 PM (GMT)
My fear would be...what if they rip the skin off? I mean, that's sensitive skin down there! YOUCH!

Mandy - December 7, 2005 04:33 PM (GMT)

Nah, the skin won't come off. It will be very sensitive though. Ouch, cringing just thinking about it...

Honey - December 7, 2005 04:49 PM (GMT)
No doubt! So, Mandy...you say you make your own waxing kit? Care to share? :)

No, that's one of the things I buy :D I get them at Wal-Mart (well, back home I do...here I guess I'd go to the PX). I like the ones that you don't have to use cloth strips with.

STill ouchies....I think I'll leave this thread now. *walks away on tippy toes just thinking about it*
