Title: Discouraged

Phillip's PT did a standardized evaluation on him for our 6 month Early Intervention evaluation. The test scored him at a 2 - 3 month old level. She explained that it's really not that accurate, but it still came as a bit of a blow, as our DT has been saing he is at a 4 - 5 month old level.

Oh, BTW, Phillip was 8 months old yesterday.

Wow. I have no idea what to say, except  and  .

What do YOU think?

I used to come home from those tests in tears. I found that those people are all doom and gloom. You have to follow your gut Amy. Do YOU think Philip is progression? Do you think he's changed? What is God telling you?

Remember, they're all about science. But we're all about faith.

Was that an exact translation of what I said - northerner to Texan?
:tease:

The person that did the test is the physical therapist that works with him every week, and she warned us that because it was a standardized test, he would probably score low. The test was just one part of her report, which overall was positive. It was just hard to see something like that written out. I really didn't need the chastisment for my lack of faith.

Yeah, I hate "standardized tests". Isaiah's been through a few and he scores "moderate". So long as he shows progress, I say it doesn't really matter what shows up on paper.

Uhhh, who chastized you for lack of faith? I think maybe we had a misunderstanding. I never meant to imply that you lacked faith.

I know my son's situation isn't the same. But I have similar tests, with similar disheartening results. This summer I had to have a private evaluation done that I thought was just speech. Turns out it was much more and in a couple areas Sean tested at 24 months or less...and he's 4 years old. I know it hurts.

Amy, why would you think these responses were anything but encouragement for you?
