Title: Weekend Together --without our kids!!!

Basil - October 18, 2006 12:52 PM (GMT)
I've taken Thursday, Friday, and Monday off work so that String and me can have some time together. We'll be dropping our kids off at their maternal grandparent's house bright and early on Thursday and then have time alone until Saturday afternoon!! I'm so excited. This is the longest stint of time we've had without the kids since we've had them, I think. Pray for us--that God will continue to help turn our hearts back to one another, calm the quarrels between us, and help us rebuild our relationship and strengthen our committment of love to one another.

Things are going better. We're starting to talk and laugh together again, which feels good. I'm sure we'll have a good time. We're going to spend a day in the college town, Tahlequah, where we met, then spend a day in Tulsa going to a movie and dining out, and then travel around the state doing things that interest us, like visiting a local winery, museums, parks, etc. After we get the kids Saturday, we plan to do something fun with them that afternoon, then drop them off at their other grandparent's that night. Then we'll have some family time Sunday and Monday. :bounce:

(I just found out that the other guy and his wife are doing much better, too--she says they're working through their communication issues and are much closer now, so praise God for that).

How great for you guys. I'm a tad bit jealous though - hubby and I haven't had a night alone in over 2 years. Make the most of it!

Awesome! A personal retreat is going to be a great thing for you, especially during this period in your lives!

There will be plenty of all the above Thursday-Saturday. :shakeit:  Anyway . . .

I think we've had more time without the kids, but not with me being off work to enjoy it.

Shouldn't this be more of an Advance than a retreat....

(well Hubbies shouild always make advancements on their wifes.... :eyebrows: :eyebrows: B) )

Didn't Lynn once say something about her Ladies group in Church goes on advancements not retreats because as Christians we should never retreat from the Lord or something to that effect....

Wow, that's quite a long weekend! Hope you take ADVANTage of it! :eyebrows:

Hubby has today off of work....nice change, but he's not home right now! :smack:

Basil & String....that is SUCH good news to hear!

Yep, & I'd call it an "Advance" instead of "retreat"....you WILL be making "advances" on each other.... :eyebrows:

BUT also will be advancing in a positive way your relationship with each other...

You go guys!! :shakeit:

I sure hope so!

Yes, our church goes on Advances (women, men, and couples) because Christians never retreat. I love that...

That's awesome Basil. I'm a little bit jealous. We went away for two days, two years ago. It was the first time we'd been alone for more than one night in 6 years, so I know how it feels.

May God bless your time together, so that you can find each other again.

We're back . . . well, I am, but String is still stuck at home without a monitor. We got several offers for free monitors through freecycle, so thanks again, Clay, for the referral.

We had a good time. We travelled around the area doing some letterboxing, hiking, and a lot of dining out. I think the time helped us grow closer. I know I am falling deeper and deeper in love with String--I've never felt more devoted to her. I'm sure she's still struggling with mixed feelings about everything, but we shared many affectionate moments.

Hopefully she'll be back on as early as tonight or tomorrow.
