Title: Need ideas from wimmen
Description: Romantic weekend coming up
clayman - October 3, 2006 05:29 PM (GMT)
Well, at least I'd like it to be a romantic weekend.
Tomorrow (10/4) is our 8th Anniversary. She took off Thursday and Friday, so we could have time together. We originally planned to go camping, but decided instead to drop the kids off at my folks' house (200 miles away!) and spend the weekend alone. Here's the problem. She wants to do work around the house. Mow the lawn, deep-clean the house, go through the girls' stuff and clean it out...
Me, I want to have a whirlwind adventure and forget about the house and work for a while. I mean, that's my life. I work on this house every day, and I'm tired of it. I told her that, and she said, "Don't deny me what I want during my time off."
So, what should I do? I told her if she brings her laptop home from work, I'm going to go camping all by myself. She doesn't understand what time off really means. I don't know how to teach her.

Claybro....
Women are like CHEAP rugs....
They need to be taken out once a week and beaten.
(string, was that better?)

If you keep beating a cheap rug like that its gonna start to fray and eventually fall apart!

Ya know, I originally had a line that read "Squat, I don't need anything about beating my wife or my meat" but I thought I'd leave it out. So, instead, I titled it "I need ideas from wimmen" and I don't think you is a wimmen.
Thanks for the input, though, bro. I'll keep it in mind. :gotcha:

Before vacuum cleaners, rugs were beaten every spring to knock the smoke and dust out of them. Now, rugs need to be sucked.

Geez....back on topic....
How about a compromise, Clay? Let wifey pick a couple things she really feels the need to get done, you guys get 'em done & over with the first day or day & a half, THEN you go away for the rest of the time to veg out & *ahem* "whatever"....
:dunno:

That's kinda what I'm hoping to do. She's hell-bent to do housework all weekend. I'll see if I can reach a compromise.
I just got off the phone with her. I'm really disappointed. I'm about ready to let her stay home all weekend while I go to Corpus with the kids and relax.

Like Deb said...compromise.
You go away and relax...she can stay hom and do all the chores.
That way, everybody is happy.

I might. But right now it seems closer to Squat's plan. She's pissed at me right now 'cuz I'm suggesting we have a weekend without work and that's not what she had in mind.
So, I'm going to sign off. I won't be back until Monday. I'm going to bust my @$$ to make sure there's no work to be done in this house this weekend. When she sees that there's no work to be done, then maybe she'll decide to do something I'd like to do.
After all, it is my birthday on Saturday. :wall:

remind her of the reason she took time off.....for your ANNIVERSARY. tell her that you were really hoping to show her how much you have appreciated the last eight years with her. tell her that she deserves some romance, and you wanna be the one to deliver---know what i mean?!lol
with all that said, just know that some women can't even think about romance until the house is cleaned. (i am one of them) after the work is done, i'm all for it though. so i think you are on to something by getting the work done ahead of time.
let us know how it goes! (well....not EVERYTHING.....)
by the way...
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!!!! AND...BIRTHDAY!!!! :birthday:
