Title: football widows
kykate - August 14, 2006 05:40 AM (GMT)
:wall: okay, it is now time to start that wonderful fall season: kids going back to school, warmer clothes, cooler weather (for most of us) and :boo: FOOTBALL SEASON. l
 i had football pregame last weekend, this saturday, sunday night football, fantasy football. oh my gosh i've had enough all ready. no more renting movies on the weekend, no more going out to eat on the weekend. it's all about the football. if we do go out to eat, then it'll be to a sports bar to watch football. i'm going to be going crazy until next feburary, which will be super bowl sunday. of course superbowl sunday is the only exception, as we have a superbowl party. but that's a LOOONNNGG way off. is anyone else in this situation? i know my sister is, we vent to each other all season long.
 i make it through another nfl/college/fantasy football season without :bonk: repeatedly.
clayman - August 14, 2006 12:04 PM (GMT)
I only watch the Super Bowl - and my wife and kids join me. We like the commercials. Since my home team is the Texans, there wasn't a lot to watch last year. Hey - this year will be different! We'll take it all this year!

Oh yeah. My husband is a NY Giants freak. Life as I knew it, is now over...at least until February. I've been teasing him lately, asking him if it's ok if I stop faking that I'm interested.
I'll watch the games with him, but I'm not watching NFL news EVERY day. And I'm not into preseason either. But, we have a friend who's a coach for the Giants so we get to go to one game with them and do all that really cool behind the scenes stuff - meet players, eat with them, get tons of autographs and pictures. I love that.
But I'm right here with you sister.
GutterRat - August 14, 2006 01:55 PM (GMT)
OH yeah - football season baby! B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L thing.
Stringaling - August 14, 2006 02:02 PM (GMT)
I was fortunate in that I did not marry a football geek.... B) None of that sports crap around here! Woo hoo!!

My DVR is a wonderful toy. Now I can record the game and watch it after the family activities are over, even if the game is still going on.

Yeah....too bad the SF Montana/Rice days are OOOOOOVVVVER....your DVR is basically worthless...hehe. SF sucks major putty balls.....
BTW, do you play fantasy football?
ChittyBang6 - August 14, 2006 06:23 PM (GMT)
we are COLTS fans here since my hubs is from Indy. :booyah:

i don't mind football season right now. the games are usually on monday night while i'm in class. on sundays, he goes to my dads house to watch the games w/ my dad and brother. doesn't bother me cuz i usually go shopping while he watches the game  plus, the games here are usually fun cuz we get together and have snacks and stuff. my dad loves Greenbay....so they usually have two big screens set up in the living room when both games are going on at the same time. i love to see them get all excited ---hootin' and hollerin'....cracks me up.
PLUS--- i get to watch my cheerleading competitions if he gets to watch his football.

andiesmama - August 14, 2006 08:17 PM (GMT)
yes yes yes....my DH spent time on the computer last night (I know, how DARE he?? B) ) doing all that fantasy football stuff....
So far he's been ok about watching the games, it's not bothered me too much, I go into the other room to watch tv....
Give me about another MONTH of being "delegated" to our old boring tv (as opposed to our new HD LCD tv) and you'll hear me screaming all the way in Kentucky/New Jersey/Texas/Illinois...... :wall: :bonk:
For some reason he thinks it's better to watch the games on HD....football is football, right??? :tease: :P

kykate - August 17, 2006 11:16 PM (GMT)
well more talk about fantasy football in our household. apparently, one guy on the :quote: team :quote: has made this draft board that's like 4 ft. by something. really huge :screwy: . the draft picks for us is like aug. 29th. they say that it's best to wait til preseason is over, then you can see who's hurt and what not. it's all greek to me. taking this a little too far, if you ask me.
as for who gets the big, HD 52in. tv? well, it's not me. i'm shunned to the bedroom to watch any programs i so desire on the smaller tv. whatver is all i have to say. how long til february?!!! :rolf:

What's a 52" TV? :dunno: We got two TVs. A 19" color that we borrowed from my BIL and a 5" B/W that DW won in high school...
Man - I'd be happy if my old 23" didn't die on me.
<off-stage voice shouts>Kwitcher Bitchin'!!!</voice> :violin:
OK - I shut up now.
rasplundjr - August 18, 2006 06:14 PM (GMT)

No, I was asking to be sarcastic. :haha:
Everybody griping about not being able to watch the big screen while hubby watches football, and I don't watch football, and I only got a 19"...
I feel so inadequate...
I was helping a friend install a sound system on his 6' by 8' (yes, that's feet) screen projection TV. His kids play GameCube on it...
Man, I could've had fun with that 19" vs. 52" conversation, but I was on the short end...
