ummm...don't you already have a thread like this?

anyhoo - our 10 yr is this Dec. we are actually going to throw a reception party for some close friends & invite everyone that was in the wedding. Should be fun.

Yes, Chitty - you will get an invite. I guess.

We went out to dinner. That's it. No big fat diamond anniversary ring *sigh*. No exstravagant weekend getaway. Just a quiet meal without the kids.

Actually, it was perfect. We always have so much fun when we're together that it didn't matter to us what we did. Now I need to find something to do for our 11th. Just 3 weeks away!

We bought each other fancy rings and went out on the town for the day. Nothing fancy, we dropped the kids off at my sister's and just spent the entire day together, which for us is a REAL treat and we rarely get to do that.

October 4, 2006 is our eighth anniversary. It's three days before my 41st birthday. I'm looking forward to some of the ideas they're giving you!

Yup!

But due to my wife's investigating, I had to let the cat out of the bag a bit early.

Since we're in the process of buying a house, we've been combing over our finances with a fine toothed comb.

Up until now, I've always been the one who has been in charge of the finances. My wife is (or was) completely oblivious to what our financial status was and what kind of transactions came in and out every month.

Then she got all persistent about finding out how much credit we have available to us because she's obsessed with putting all these upgrades into the new house. That's when she found out about a loan that I had taken out... as well as the AMOUNT.

So I said to her that I bought her something for our anniversary. I didn't say what, but I'm sure she has an idea. There aren't many things that a guy would get his wife on their anniversary with a pricetag like that.

At least this time, she'll take responsibility for ruining my surprise. She ruined my first proposal but refuses to take responsibility for it.

We had our 6th anniersary last month. Did nothing. he went to work, I cleaned house and watched the kids. Had an argument. Went to bed--No squa! Just sleeping like every other night--Don't have any extra money to celerate or anything...If my marriage were in a better state I might have an ideaor suggestion, but....Sorry....

thanks guys.....i guess......there's not many ideas on here though. andy said that he already celebrated when he bought me a new wedding set for valentines day. i told him he doesn't get off that easy. that was for VALENTINE's day!! :nono: here is the ring though.....(i do admit that i love to show others my new set. he done good!!lol) user posted image

hey gutter....i can post this subject up as many times as i want dangit!! back off!! :cheeky: and i already got the invite to your reception. i told your wifey that i was going to stand up and give the 'should-have-been-the-maid-of-honor-speach'!LOL we had a good laugh over that one. :haha:

i actually had planned on doing a reception like that. i had even called everyone, reserved everything, etc. but andy figured out what we were doing (OH- i wanted to renew our vows too) and he put his foot down. he said he hated that idea and didn't want to do it. he just wanted something for the two of us. he said (his words) "i wanna go somewhere and not have to impress anyone and i want to be able to grab my wife and get it on if i feel like it. you can't do that at a stinkin' reception!" so.....i guess that's out for us! LOL

GutterRat - August 11, 2006 04:15 PM (GMT)
I don't want to "renew the vows". I mean - they don't expire so why do I need to "renew" them. PLUS, if they do expire - I need some time to consider my options. :)

ChittyBang6 - August 11, 2006 06:50 PM (GMT)
yeah. in most cases renewing the vows seems pointless. but in our case.....well, you know. things haven't exactly been wonderful in the last year, so i thought it might be good to begin a "fresh start" w/ one another. he wasn't down w/ that though. oh well. no biggie.....saves me the effort i guess!LOL

You sound like my DH. Although, I told him if he keeps having health problems that I was going to trade him in for two 20s on his 40th birthday. B)

We eloped and then got married 6 weeks later in a big Catholic ceremony. So my DH said there's no way he's doing it again. He said twice was good enough.

However, he might consider doing a Vegas wedding for our 20th. That's something we thought we should have done instead of the big family gig the first time around...or I guess it was the second time around.
